Harrison Ford has had a plethora of iconic roles and movies throughout his Hollywood career. Starring in various action and adventure roles, the actor has also seen his fair share of failures and box office flops.
Back in 2013, the actor starred in a sci-fi film titled Ender’s Game. With Ford starring in the film, the crew of Ender’s Game consulted with Elon Musk about some of the future space shuttle technology depicted in the film.
Producers Consulted Elon Musk For Their Harrison Ford Movie
Ender’s Game depicts the story of a fight between Formics (an insectoid alien species) and the International Military with Earth at stake. Asa Butterfield starred alongside Hailee Steinfeld and some of the elder cast included Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, and, Harrison Ford.
With such a star-studded cast, the film was bound to receive fame or box office collections in return. To have an eye for scientific accuracy, the producers of the film consulted Elon Musk so that they might get the technology right.
As per film trivia on IMDB, the producer had a chat with SpaceX CEO Elon Musk to discuss whether the technology used in the space shuttles in the film was actually viable or not in the future. Getting a green light from Musk resulted in the film being scientifically accurate but that didn’t save Ender’s Game from a massive failure.
Harrison Ford Keeps Coming Back For These Movies
Harrison Ford is one of the greatest actors to exist out there. The actor found fame by portraying the role of Indiana Jones in the Indiana Jones franchise and Ford has a very good reason why he keeps coming back for more. In an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, the actor stated that he wants his films to inspire people.
“I wanted these films to inspire people, to make them laugh, to make them cry. And so for me it’s been just an unbelievable experience to have this opportunity. And the last one, I wanted to be about character. I wanted it to be about what it’s like to be an older archeologist.”
The actor further revealed that he would ask Steven Spielberg to add one more layer of complications to his character whenever he would return to work.
“One thing I asked for in each of them was to further embrace a complication of the character. I wanted to know more about Indiana Jones. I wanted the things that he did to be generated out of his character, out of his nature, out of his experience.”
Ender’s Game proved to be a cult classic as the film flopped at the box office but managed to gain a rating of 6.6/10 on IMDB and 63% on Rotten Tomatoes. The 2013 film is available to stream on Peacock Premium in the U.S.
