While it is clear that the fans are quite enraged with rumors of Depp being replaced in the sixth Pirates installment, another scooper, Daniel Richtman commented on the same clarifying that Edebiri’s casting is only being considered for a Pirates spin-off project. The scooper further made the report clear that the actress replacing the Dark Shadows actor is untrue.
Regardless of anything, the fact remains the same the fans want the Black Mass actor to serve as the lead in the sixth Pirates movie whom the studio fired due to his then-ongoing legal disputes with his ex-wife, Amber Heard. The Aquaman actress wrote an op-ed piece in The Washington Post claiming herself as a domestic abuse victim. That took a great toll on his reputation, leading his professional career to hit rock bottom. He filed a defamation lawsuit in 2019 which commenced in April 2022 and concluded in June that year with the court announcing the verdict in his favor.
