When receiving the Academy Award for Best Actress, Stone’s interaction with the presenters caused some online chatter. Getting her award from five former Best Actress winners- Michelle Yeoh, Jennifer Lawrence, Sally Field, Jessica Lange, and Charlize Theron; Stone got into an awkward situation; which has caused fans to accuse her of racism.

However, due to a certain development in the situation from Yeoh’s side, the accusers are forced to eat their words.

When a clip showing a different angle of Emma Stone’s interaction with the five lovely ladies presenting the award made its way to the internet, fans on the internet started accusing Stone of controversy. In the clip (via @justhalmi on X), Stone was doing something that many saw as her trying to snatch the trophy from Michelle Yeoh and giving it to Jennifer Lawrence to receive it from her instead.

This led to people bashing Stone on the grounds of racism. However, viewing such allegations online apparently drove Yeoh to do something that destroyed fans who accused the La La Land actress of racism.

There is no way to be certain if Yeoh intended her post to defend Stone but that is what it has become as many fans have begun to use the post as proof that there was nothing racist about the interaction between the two.

The Everything Everywhere All At Once actress made a post on Instagram of her hugging Stone on stage when she handed her the award. And it’s the caption that explains all the confusion that happened while handing over the award. It reads:

“Congratulations Emma!! I confused you, but I wanted to share that glorious moment of handing over Oscar to you together with your best friend Jennifer!! She reminded me of my Bae Jamie Lee Curtis for each other!!”

A warm caption explaining the attempt at a sweet moment which was largely misconstrued. This post from Yeoh put an end to what would have been quite a controversial situation for Stone.

People Who Accused Emma Stone Of Racism Are Dragged On the Internet

If anything, netizens seldom miss the chance to prove others wrong. This is the basis and the motto of all Twitter fights. And this instance was no different.
