Back in the early 90s, Mark Wahlberg was known by his moniker Marky Mark and led the Hip-Hop group Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. They gained a lot of attention and popularity due to their hit song Good Vibrations. However, another rap icon by the name of Eminem also came up in the 90s and it seems the two didn’t like each other and often butted heads.

In the book Whatever You Say I Am: The Life and Times of Eminem, the rapper detailed an awkward moment with Wahlberg on the MTV program Total Request Live in 1999. Eminem chronicled how he acted like the other person wasn’t there and even made fun of the group’s name. The excerpt read, (via Express.co.uk)

“I pretended like I don’t hear him and s**t. Then we’re on air and […] I’m like: ‘We’ll just stand around here like one big fun bunch!’ So I threw a stab at him. He didn’t want me to say Mark-y. Probably didn’t want me to say funk-y neither.”

However, by 2017, it seems the two made peace with each other and ended their feud. That year, Wahlberg acknowledged that Eminem was a better rapper than him and he didn’t give him the credit at the time for being so talented and better than him. He told GQ,

“Very cool guy. Very talented. And yes, I didn’t give him credit for that a long time ago. I was a hater because he’s a better rapper than me.”

Wahlberg has always been open about his rough past and all the bad deeds he did when he was young. He has turned his life around and has constantly tried to make up for his past mistakes. It seems the actor also put an end to his feud with Eminem which grew out of his insecurity and pride at the time.

While speaking to The Direct, the actor revealed that the script for the sequel is written and more work is being done on the same. He also claimed that his character’s mustache (which was shown at the end of the first film) would be there for the whole duration of the second film. He said,

“I’ve heard lots of different ideas. I know somebody’s written a script, and they’re still working on it, and it would consist of having the mustache the whole entire time. Which completely makes sense; obviously, in that final scene, I have the mustache.”

It remains to be seen how the sequel fares in comparison to the first film when it comes out in the foreseeable future. Recently, Wahlberg released his action comedy film The Family Plan on Apple TV+ and it became the streamer’s most watched film.
