Elden Ring has six endings, as each leads players to different fates. Each endings requires players to take a specific path and also depends on the choices made along the way. Having different endings isn’t something new in the Soulslike genre, as Dark Souls titles each had multiple endings.

It’s not just the DLC that could be affected by the choices, as any potential sequels could also get implicated by one or more of the choices players have made in the game. With Elden Ring‘s first DLC on the horizon, players would be curious to know how much the six endings could end up affecting it.

Elden Ring Endings Explained

The Age of Order ending is an altered ending of the Golden Order. This ending sees the Tarnished choose to use the Mending Rune of the Perfect Order on the Elden Ring. This restores order in The Lands Between, leading to the beginning of a new age of stability and a cessation of all conflicts.

Then there’s the Blessing of Despair ending, which is a slightly different from the default Age of Fracture. This ending requires players to complete Dung Eater’s quest and feed it Seedbed Curses until they receive the Mending Rune of the Fell Curse. This sees all present and future generations of The Lands Between cursed with the same curse that was brought about by the Dung Eater’s defilement.

In the Lord of the Frenzied Flame ending, the Tarnished is seen taking a different path to become the Lord of the Frenzied Flame. If the Frenzied Flame gets inherited by the players before the events that follow Forge of the Giants, then players will witness Melina leave the Tarnished and devote herself to delivering the Destined Death upon the player.

The Tarnished is seen taking over as the Lord of Chaos and is given the task of burning the world.

In the Age of the Stars ending, the Tarnished is seen summoning Ranni the Witch. Ranni supplants Marika as Goddess, and the Tarnished is taken as Ranni’s Elden Lord. Ranni brings her new order into effect and removes the influence of The Greater Will from The Lands Between.

Ranni leaves The Lands Between along with the Tarnished, leaving it without a true Lord.

The Only Ending That Could Matter for Shadow of the Erdtree

The six endings could be canon to the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC or none of them could matter too.

The Age of the Duskborn ending sees the Tarnished choose to use the Mending Rune of the Death Prince and begin the new age as the new Elden Lord. This ending also sees The Lands Between get engulfed in fog as Death is embedded into Order.

The world is rid of immortality, and all the people and creatures begin the cycle of life and death. This ending leaves Erdtree in the middle of Lands Between, engulfed in thick, foggy substance, which is what the artwork for the DLC shows.

The figure in the artwork seen riding a horse in a field, overlooking the Erdtree, is predicted by fans to be Miquella.

As much as all six endings have the potential to be canon for Shadow of the Erdtree, should the DLC end up taking the lore to the past, none of the endings could matter.
