Despite her claims about being lacking in stunt skills, it is notable that Moriarty was one of the first actors to be cast in The Boys, even before Anthony Starr, Karl Urban, or Jack Quaid. Moriarty will return to her role in the upcoming Season 4 of The Boys.

Erin Moriarty plays Starlight, one of the few superheroes who prioritizes protecting society, in The Boys. Despite her dominating presence throughout the three seasons of the series, fans were taken aback when Moriarty admitted being deficient in one crucial skill. Appearing on A Little Late With Lilly Singh, the Red Widow actress shared that she was bad at performing her stunts.

Moriarty played the fun segment First, Last, Best, Worst where she had to share her experiences in each of these categories. When it came to the ‘Worst’ category, host Lilly Singh asked Moriarty about her worst on-set experience. While Singh expected Moriarty to spill the tea on some set secrets, the Jessica Jones actress recounted the instance when she met with the stunt trainer for her fighting scenes.

She and her stunt trainer had a difficult time figuring out her strengths in performing stunts. Moriarty knew about her limitations as she was from a theater background. The stunt trainer initially asked her to throw some boxing punches, only to find out that it was not her thing. The trainer then made her do some martial arts moves and concluded that it wasn’t her forte either. Moriarty shared with Lilly Singh:

“It would be my stunt skills. Our stunt trainer met with me, and he was trying to figure out what I was good at so he could work it into my fight sequences. So, he tried to see if I could throw punches, like, boxing, and he was like, ‘No, that’s not your thing.’ And then he tried to see if I could do, like, anything martial arts related, and he was like, ‘That is not your forte.’”

While Moriarty’s stunt scenes are considerably less than other stars in The Boys, fans didn’t find any issues with her fight scenes. Particularly, the so-called stunt weaknesses were not at all visible on screen, and credit is due to the stunt trainer who finally identified her area of strength.

Erin Moriarty and her stunt trainer finally identified her strengths, which they could work into her fight sequences. Weirdly, Moriarty was good at executing high kicks and throwing elbow punches. She revealed that she was not even aware that elbow punches were a thing. She also credited her stunt double for making her look good on the series. Jennifer Murray plays her double in The Boys‘ stunt scenes (via IMDb). Moriarty told Singh:

“And what we realized I could do really well, I can do really good high kicks, and I can throw my elbows really well. I didn’t even know that a thing. So my whole fight sequence is just literally me going [throws her elbows]. Yeah. Stunts is not my forte. And I also have a double, by the way, who is amazing and, like, making me look real good.”

Recently, Erin Moriarty was on the receiving end of some controversial comments from Megyn Kelly. On her show, Kelly accused Moriarty of using plastic surgery to change her appearance. Kelly also added that the Monster Party actress was negatively influencing young girls. Moriarity clapped back, calling Kelly’s comments “bullying” and stating that she was “horrified”. Moriarity has since taken a break from social media.
