Escape from Tarkov has been one of the most surprising and successful games in the tactical FPS community, and few games have matched the depth and intensity brought by the game. However, as of late, things aren’t looking too good for the game, as developers and community managers alike have been supporting certain practices that aren’t sitting too well with fans.
In a recent leaked interview with the dev, it was revealed that the team has no plans of changing The Unheard Edition’s gameplay model or how it will affect the players going forward. This was confirmed by the game’s community manager.

After the negative response to Escape from Tarkov’s The Unheard Edition, fans have been having a hard time believing that all of their apprehensions have been true. Not only is the lead developer asking players to be okay with recent changes, but he is also unsure whether or not the price tag for the new edition goes down at all.
Naturally, multiple comments on the post have been voicing their dissatisfaction and frustration regarding this decision.

Clearly, this update is going to not only mess with the existing state of the game but also encourage cheaters to treat the game like a playground for anything and everything they want. Which pretty much drives away players instead of keeping a healthy player base.
It’s not new to see a successful game plagued by hackers and cheaters. However, what makes things worse is that the interview is a transparent truth about how the studio is treating the game. Instead of helping players have a better time, Escape from Tarkov seems to be heading in the direction of disaster, as far as its community is concerned.
Is There a Future for Escape from Tarkov?
Of course, there is one. But then again, Overwatch 2 too showed this promise in its initial days. However, it has taken years for the latter to reach a point of comeback, making it one of the few games that tried to make big changes in the long run.
Considering the interview with Escape from Tarkov’s developer, the future seems bleak.
