Eternals: Who Is The Strongest Member Of The Team?

Featured Video

After staying hidden for nearly 7000 years, the Eternals are all set to make their grand appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Directed by Academy Award-winning director Chloé Zhao, Eternals will bring the legendary Jack Kirby’s vision to life on the big screen. With Game of Thrones stars Richard Madden and Kit Harington reuniting, the movie will also star Salma Hayek, Don Lee, Angelina Jolie, Gemma Chan, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, and Harish Patel in major roles. Despite being blessed with immortality and a plethora of superpowers, this elite race of superhumans blended themselves with the human race in plain sight only to come out of hiding after thousands of years. Though all the members are considered to be immensely powerful in their own right, the question arises: who is the strongest of them all?

In the latest trailer, the story is fleshed out in much deeper detail with more focus on the major characters and their abilities. Ikaris, played by Richard Madden, has the ability to project devastating cosmic rays from his eyes along with flight, superstrength, endurance, and a myriad of other powers that are expected to be displayed in the movie. Similarly, Angelina Jolie’s Thena is an elite warrior with the ability to use cosmic energy to form any weapon of her choice. Highly proficient with weapons, Thena is a fearsome warrior who has honed her skills for thousands of years. The rest of the Eternals possess the abilities of super-speed, energy projection, illusion casting, mind manipulation, and regeneration. While Ikaris is undoubtedly one of the most powerful Eternals with his plethora of abilities, he still comes second to one member who is yet to unleash his full powers in the movie.

Don Lee, who rose to prominence for his unforgettable acting performance in the Korean zombie thriller Train to Busan, plays the role of Gilgamesh in Eternals. Despite having limited screen time in the latest trailer, Gilgamesh is the strongest Eternal according to the comics. Like all other Eternals, Gilgamesh possesses numerous abilities like superhuman strength, endurance, speed, regeneration, agility, resistance to aging and diseases, and flight. However, what makes him the strongest of them all is the unparalleled mental strength that grants him the ability to control every single molecule in his body. After centuries of training, Gilgamesh is nearly as powerful as Thor and Hercules, which makes him a force of nature to reckon with. In the comics, Gilgamesh pushed Thor to his limits despite being blind at the time with the God of Thunder himself admitting that Gilgamesh is one of the strongest foes he has ever fought.

In the comics, Gilgamesh went blind for quite some time. However, the character used this disability to sharpen the other senses which turned him into an expert hunter and tracker. His raw physical strength paired with his unbreakable mental fortitude makes him the strongest of all Eternals. However, the chances of diluting his powers in the movie are quite high considering that the latest trailer focused a lot more on Richard Madden’s Ikaris. But nonetheless, if MCU decides to depict the character true to the comics, Gilgamesh can easily rank among the strongest characters who have appeared in the movies so far.
