Many godlike Avengers, including Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, Hulk, and Thor, are mentioned when fans argue over who is the most powerful character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sure, upon examining the physical attributes, fans may discover that the answer to this question is not as simple as they initially believed. There are other abilities besides brute force, magic, and energy blasts that can provide a hero with an edge during battle.

Having said that, Scott Lang, a.k.a. Ant-Man in the MCU, is a superhero who, with the use of Pym Particles, can shrink to the size of an ant while retaining his normal strength and durability. This means that he can outmaneuver his rivals and deliver punches with the force of a full-sized man. Not to mention, his ability to change size gives him an extra edge in battle.

Even Hulk, Thor, or Scarlet Witch Can’t Compete With Ant-Man in The MCU?

Hulk and Thor end up imprisoned on the far-off planet Sakaar in the Marvel Cinematic Universe flick Thor: Ragnarok. Still, they did have access to a Quinjet because the Hulk traveled on it after the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Thor (Chris Hemsworth) attempted to use the ‘Strongest Avenger’ login credentials to get into the Quinjet’s controls, but he was unable to do so. Later, Bruce Banner easily logged into the Quinjet’s controls.

The computer identified Bruce as the ‘Strongest Avenger’ over Thor, which infuriates the latter to a noticeable degree. However, Thor would have been even more disappointed if he had known who he had truly lost out to.

Next, Marvel Comics’ Avengers #36 featured the capture of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver by Ixar, an evil alien conqueror who wanted to take over the planet by replicating all of the Avengers’ powers. Almost getting caught in the act, the Avengers storm Ixar’s spaceship in search of their kidnapped teammates, only to stumble right into his trap.

It appeared that there was no hope left and that Ixar would succeed in taking over Planet Earth when an army of androids attacked the Avengers. Ixar, however, underestimated the power of Ant-Man, the ‘Strongest Avenger’, who can save the Avengers from almost certain death. And, he proved to be an invaluable asset to the team.

By using what is known as Pym particles to grow or shrink, Ant-Man can transform from a nearly invisible superhero to an incredibly massive one. And, even going with a popular MCU theory, most people would argue in favor of Thor or the Hulk, but Ant-Man has something that beats them all. Indeed, with ‘Pym particles’ at work.

What About Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch?

Though Scarlet Witch’s (Elizabeth Olsen) continued status as an Avenger is currently in doubt because of her villainous turn in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, her status as the most powerful of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes is undeniable.

Since Wanda has lost her partner and their children, she is effectively worthless, making her even more dangerous than an all-powerful, multiverse-capable being like Doctor Strange.

Thus, Wanda Maximoff’s power is evident in the WandaVision season finale, independent of the individual storylines. Her power exceeds that of the Sorcerer Supreme, as Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness confirms (via Collider).

“Did you know there’s an entire chapter devoted to you in the Darkhold? That’s the book of the damned. The Scarlet Witch is not born, she is forged. She has no coven, no need for incantation. Your power succeeds that of the Sorcerer Supreme. It’s your destiny to destroy the world.”

However, let’s face it, sometimes it’s the underdog who proves that size doesn’t matter when you have a bigger will to do good. Ant-Man may be small in stature, but he is mighty in spirit, which is what distinguishes him as the true strongest Avenger in the MCU.
