Helldivers 2 is no doubt an excellent game; the proof is in the pudding as the game continues to grow in popularity. There are a number of things that have attracted such a large player base towards this title; one of those things is the constant input from developers who make sure this game continues to be a pleasant experience for its fans.

Arrowhead Game Studios, the developer of Helldivers 2, and especially its creative director and CEO, Johan Pilestedt, have been at the forefront. They have made sure every problem is fixed, and they have assured that all issues gamers have are heard. He even replies to some of the queries. This process of staying in touch with their fans has assured that gamers never face any issues. But it looks like this company has met its first relentless, undefeatable enemy.

It has been said a bunch of times that Helldivers 2 is an incredible third-person shooter. The fact that it supports co-op just adds to its charm and makes this game something that cannot be looked away from. Players just cannot stop themselves from starting a match and shooting at those dangerous enemies.

The process is simple: players have to find an open game, join the host, and start wreaking havoc. It does not stop until the mission is done. Arrowhead Game Studios has made the game in such a manner that shooting, an age-old gameplay mechanic, feels incredibly fresh and fun.

But there are hiccups too; sometimes players find that they are not able to start a match. Or sometimes they would get kicked off a server due to them pushing the thing to its limits. The developers have instantly found solutions to these issues; they worked day and night to do so.

Then comes that dynamic war system where the game master continues to work on this game’s story. His name is Joel, and he is the brain behind everything that happens in this game. If you find it too hard, it’s due to what he did, and if you lose a planet to enemy forces, then again, it’s upon Joel.

He would make sure how many enemies players fight. He also decides what kind of reinforcement those enemies will get. To counter the difficult scenarios Joel puts in front of the players, developers also added a bunch of new equipment. They added Mechs and they also added NPC reinforcements to the game.

Seeing all this, it’s pretty clear that for every issue the game throws at its players, developers know how to counter. They would update, change, and do anything possible to fix it. But what do they do if their player hosts start kicking them out of a match?

The latest issue is that players are kicking each other out of their matches. What’s most unusual is the reason why they are being kicked; sometimes they are being kicked for having a specific weapon. Other times they are being kicked for not having a certain piece of equipment.

When asked, the CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios was a bit worried. As it’s not an issue that’s based on Helldiver 2′s code, no doubt they are finding it hard to fix. Hence, he simply asked the fanbase to suggest possible solutions for this problem.

This is so shitty. Also very hard to solve – we have some ideas but no conclusion. You know what, let’s try this: Hive Mind – do you have a design suggestion for how to improve this experience?

It is not often that developers look to their fans to guide them through a problem. It would be interesting to see what kind of response they get. As this problem is a big one and would need an urgent solution.

They can fix it in one way, though

Getting kicked out of an ongoing game can be a big problem. Players feel rejected, and it’s only natural for them to get angry over it. But there’s one simple solution for this problem that developers can apply: they can allow for custom checklists that a host can make. And only allow others to join a match if they have the equipment on that checklist. This might sound a bit aggressive, but it would solve this problem for good.

Of course, the developers know better how to go about fixing such issues. Fans would definitely have to wait and see what Johan Pilestedt and his team come up with.
