Ezra Miller headlining The Flash is all set to release in June. With massive critical appraisal and overwhelming audience appreciation, it is almost certain to be one of the biggest movies of this year. However, one thing that remains to be certain yet is Ezra Miller’s future in DC as Barry Allen after this due to the constant controversies that have hounded the actor over the past couple of years.

Incidentally, Marvel actor Jonathan Majors, too, got involved in a messy assault case filed by his ex-girlfriend late in March, following an arrest. Although he is out of custody, his future in Marvel is in jeopardy as well. Especially with a major US military ad campaign featuring him being pulled out, two talent management companies dropping him, and also him being replaced in two major movies he was supposed to headline.

As a result, although Miller and Majors’ cases are highly different, people have started to draw comparisons between them. And Ezra Miller’s fans are not taking too kindly to those comparisons. Especially as Miller’s The Flash co-star Michael Shannon recently commented that he enjoyed working with them on set while Majors allegedly has a reputation for being problematic both on and off set.

Michael Shannon recalled working with Ezra Miller

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Michael Shannon talked about his life off-screen, future plans and of course reprising his role after years in The Flash. Although most of Miller’s co-stars have refrained from commenting on the actor’s behavior or controversies, Shannon seems to be the first one to speak out. He noted in the interview,

“If you’re talking about Ezra [Miller], I thought Ezra was lovely—very kind to me when I was there. It’s difficult to talk about, but I always give people a lot of slack in this business, because there’s a lot of people in this business that have issues. And some people have more privacy than others. Any time somebody is out in the spotlight getting picked on, I feel for them. Even if it’s warranted, it’s still a horrible situation.”

It should be mentioned that also their other co-stars are yet to share their experiences, The Flash director Andy Muschietti recently spoke out in for of the actor in CinemaCon, calling them “One of the best actors I have ever worked with.”

Mary Harron, too, claimed as such in last year’s TIFF. As such, with numerous accounts of people sharing their positive memories of coming across Ezra Miller, and their apology in August last year where they claimed that they are seeking professional help for their mental issues, their fans are trying to rally for them to continue working in DC.

Ezra Miller’s fans defend them against Jonathan Majors comparisons

Ezra Miller’s fans’ constant petitions for the actor to continue their career, gave rise to Jonathan Majors‘ fans speaking out on what they deem as unfair. According to them, Miller continuing their career as before, while Majors is getting pulled from multiple projects at once is quite the discrimination.

However, this did not sit very well with Miller’s fans, who claim that their cases are absolutely not similar and should not be compared at all.

Although Ezra Miller faced arrests for public misconduct and altercations, had restraining orders filed against them from two different neighbors, got caught on video trying to choke a woman against a wall in Iceland at the peak of the pandemic, and also got accused of burglary and even grooming, they were never seriously charged for any of it, nor did they ever get convicted.

Now with people recalling their positive accounts of meeting and working with Miller, fans are trying to turn public opinion in their favor once again. And they are not appreciating the comparison with Majors’ case at all. As they claim, Majors has always had a bad reputation on and off the set. His case, too, differs from Miller’s in the sense that he had a legal case filed against him on serious charges of harassment and assault that is still ongoing.

However, the only thing similar between the actors seems to be that their superhero and supervillain careers are pretty much in jeopardy now. Although it should be mentioned that Andy Muschietti hinted at a sequel of The Flash being in plans if this movie goes over well with the audience after its release.

Marvel too, has plans of keeping Jonathan Majors’ Kang as a major villain for their Phase 5 projects even after Avengers: The Kang Dynasty‘s release in 2025. As a result, there might still be hope for both of these talented actors for their future.
