Skyrim was launched back in 2011; more than 10 years have passed, yet the game remains as popular as it was back then. Fans cannot help themselves from going back to it, and developers cannot stop releasing new, updated versions of it.

It makes sense too; it’s a game that encourages exploration in a huge world. Players can just roam around for hours and hours without getting bored. They would even keep finding exciting new things or people. It’s a game that knows how to reward a player’s curiosity.

Fallout games are no different; they too have a huge world to explore. They also reward players for their exploration. There are new people to meet, new quests to discover, and a bunch of weapons to collect. Most importantly, those comical, large football-like mini-nukes.

Yet, those games never got as much attention as Skyrim, until now. Thanks to the launch of this popular and successful Amazon series, Fallout games have found new success on Steam. People are just trying to get into this series, and it’s definitely not a disappointment.

Fallout 4's male protagonist is not a newcomer to the wasteland.

Recently released data by SteamDB showcases the rise in player count for three of the biggest games in the series. Fallout 4 touched almost 60K players, while Fallout 3 touched the 30K mark. Bethesda’s live service version of the series Fallout 76 has also seen a rise in player count; this game crossed 10K.

Originally this game was rejected by the fans for its lack of content and numerous technical issues. This is good news for Fallout 76, given the fact that this game was not much of a success when Bethesda launched it back in 2018. But over time, Bethesda has improved this game by adding extra content through massive updates.

All this is happening thanks to the recently launched TV series. It features a bunch of characters exploring the wasteland trying to catch an escaped target. This target holds something so powerful that it can change the future.

One must understand that it’s a big deal, given the fact that this is double the count these games had before. It’s great news for the series; maybe they would now plan a bunch of more updates for Fallout 76? That game can still use a lot of new content.

Bethesda has chosen the right time for the Fallout 4 update too

Bethesda Games launched Fallout 4 in 2015. Skyrim was released in 2011, and the next generation upgrade for Skyrim was launched for the PS5 and Xbox series soon after the launch of those consoles. Yet the next generation upgrade of a newer game, Fallout 4, was only announced in 2022.

Then they kept on delaying that upgrade, citing a bunch of issues, most specifically the fixing of Starfield. But it looks like that will change now that they have announced a release date for this upgrade. It’s coming on April 25th and would improve the resolution as well as the framerate of this game.
