While Joe Manganiello’s stint in the DC Universe was short-lived, it was memorable and left fans campaigning for more of his Deathstroke. And even though he was set to continue playing the character if Zack Snyder’s DCEU continued, with the struggling universe dead and buried with the release of Aquaman 2, the chances of his return are minuscule.

But his brief stint playing Deathstroke in Justice League isn’t the lone CBM Manganiello has appeared in, as more notably, the actor got to play Flash Thomson in Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. Reflecting on the possibility of playing Flash again, Manganiello stressed that he would be more than happy to return as his Marvel counterpart.

With Zack Snyder’s DCEU Dead, Joe Manganiello Entertains the Idea of Agent Venom

Although no director has been officially confirmed for Avengers: Secret Wars, last year, semi-reliable scooper Daniel RPK alleged that Sam Raimi was in the mix of helming the sixth Avengers flick. And while nothing is confirmed as of now, Joe Manganiello, who starred as Flash in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, would love to reunite with Raimi if he ends up helming the movie. Even though he isn’t sure if that’d end up being the case, especially considering Sony holds the keys to the Raimi trilogy, the Magic Mike Star entertained the idea of making his MCU debut as Agent Venom.

He told Comicbook.com:

“Would I love to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? I mean, sure. Of course it’d be fun in the right project. I heard Sam Raimi’s doing Secret Wars, is that right? I don’t know, man. I don’t much about [Agent Venom], I’d imagine that’d be over at Sony. It would be very funny to come back that way.”

For the unversed, Agent Venom is the amalgamation of the symbiote with Flash Thomson, and it’ll be interesting to see if Sony and MCU entertain this idea moving forward or not.

Joe Manganiello Was Offered an Undisclosed MCU Role Years Ago

Before entertaining the idea of a potential MCU debut, Joe Manganiello revealed that he was once offered the opportunity to mark his MCU. The actor explained that acclaimed director Taika Waititi offered him to star in an undisclosed role in one of his Thor movies. But following scheduling issues, the actor unfortunately had to pass on the role. He said,

“Years ago, Taika Waititi wanted me for one of the Thor movies and I couldn’t do it. It was impossible for me scheduling-wise to do it at the end of the day. But that would have been my reappearance back into the Marvel Universe. But I couldn’t do it.”

While his desire to return as Deathstroke was cut short following the death of Zack Snyder’s DCEU, fans will hope, this doesn’t end up being the case for his Marvel counterpart.

Avengers: Secret Wars is currently slated for a release on 7 May 2027.
