The eight-episode debut season concluded with the season finale dropping on January 30, 2024.
The series also managed to enter Nielsen Streaming’s Top 10 streaming shows list, coming in at the fourth spot. By January, Disney reported that the show’s premiere episode had amassed 26.2 million views, becoming one of the biggest debuts for the streaming service. However, despite the show’s success, a second-season renewal is currently pending.
Writer Rick Riordan stated that preliminary work on the second season had begun as early as March 2023, with the writers’ room back to craft the scripts for the new episodes. Showrunners Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz said that conversations had taken place for plans regarding a second season. However, as of this writing, Percy Jackson and the Olympians is yet to be officially renewed for a second season.

The tweets suggest that most viewers are unhappy with the show’s quality and would not want to see it return for a sophomore outing. However, a section of the fans were also excited about the possibility of season 2 and wanted to see the story continue. A potential second season will most likely adapt the second book in the series The Sea of Monsters.
