Florence Pugh’s career trajectory has been one that is deeply fascinating. She started strong, setting her foundations in the indie-film genre and eventually ruling it. Since then, however, a lot has changed for her. Long gone are the small-budget, smaller-scale films with fewer audiences. She has recently been thrown, head-first, into the gilded prison of stardom.
From Midsommer to Dune, the actress has seen a lot of change in the roles she was playing and the actors she was surrounding herself with. Although, in the highest level of Hollywood, different types of projects provide different types of experiences for actors.
Going from Oppenheimer to Thunderbolts would certainly be a shock for Pugh. Fans seem to be hyper-fixating on this factor, as they try to figure out if it is a downgrade or not.
Florence Pugh Started Working On Thunderbolts
Recently Florence Pugh has been seen in big-scale critically acclaimed projects that have helped her get recognised for her talent. Moving from these types of films, Pugh is going back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and putting on the shoes of Yelena Belova once again for the upcoming, Thunderbolts.
The actress spoke on exactly this with Entertainment Tonight, revealing that she has begun filming on the Marvel project. She spoke on how being on a press tour for both Dune: Part Two and Oppenheimer, while simultaneously filming Thunderbolts has been quite the experience for her.
While the news is an excellent update for fans, many cannot help but talk about how autonomous the Marvel film feels next to the two critically acclaimed films. So much so, that it led to Alex Muad’dib Coleman on X asking if the change was a downgrade for the actress, and fans seemed to be split.
Fans Are Polarized
There is absolutely no doubt that Marvel projects are masterpieces in their right. Despite this, a fact that is undeniable is that actors find it difficult to showcase the complete range of their skills via the characters that they play in the franchise. It is, perhaps, because of this, that fans wondered if Florence Pugh would feel working on Thunderbolts to be a downgrade compared to Oppenheimer and Dune: Part Two.
they saying she’s earning $10m just for being in thunderbolts. that’s 10x what she made in oppenheimer. guess i don’t blame her for chasing a bag.

Damn, it's almost like she was in MCU before any of those movies and is just reprising her original role with a much bigger check attached to it than any of those other two movie roles had.

'cause she'll actually have more than 3 lines of dialogue for a change?

Some, on the other hand, stated that just because Thunderbolts is a Marvel film does not make it a weaker contender. Fans seem to have a lot of faith in the Sebastian Stan film. Some even pointed out how the actress is earning a lot for her role in the Marvel film, which has a much higher budget than the two films, so it would make sense that she is fine working on the upcoming film.
