Last appearing in the complete disaster of a movie starring Ryan Reynolds, the character is a fan-favorite of comic book fans who have been dying to witness a more faithful adaptation. With Gunn rebooting the entire DC verse and Jordan set to appear in the upcoming DC show, Lanterns, fans have found the perfect actor for the role. And it is Robert Downey Jr.’s Oppenheimer co-star, Alden Ehrenreich.

While many DC fans were understandably upset about having to say goodbye to their favorite actors after James Gunn took over the DC Universe, not one fan really missed Ryan Reynolds‘ version of Hal Jordan from the epic failure of a movie from 2011, titled Green Lantern.

Instead, fans were deeply excited when the upcoming DC TV series about the Green Lantern Corps, titled Lanterns was announced (see Variety). Starring two highly popular Green Lanterns, Hal Jordan and John Stewart, fans have been pretty busy since then pitching different actors for each role.

While names like Glen Powell and Patrick Schwarzenegger have popped up many times in the discussion, Star Wars star Alden Ehrenreich is also a pretty popular choice for the role of Hal Jordan (see X). From his looks to his physicality, Ehrenreich seems to be the obvious choice of many hardcore DC fans who have been desperately waiting for the character to reappear for more than a decade.

Although the actor is already making his superhero debut in the upcoming Marvel series, Ironheart, the actor seems like the perfect match for a character as significant as Hal Jordan. Not only can he showcase the character’s complexities and conflicts, but he is also charming enough to bring Jordan’s true charm to life.

Alden Ehrenreich’s Star Wars debut might not be the most successful movie of his career, yet he proved to fans his ability to headline major franchises. Not set to make his Marvel debut, the actor is an obvious favorite of comic book fans.

His acting prowess and physicality also make him the perfect actor to play a character as cocky and charismatic as Hal Jordan. From being a fan favorite cast to his incredible acting potential, the Oppenheimer star is a strong contender for the role in the upcoming DC series, Lanterns.

And so fans across the internet have been campaigning for the actor and voicing their support for him to get a chance to play the titular superhero.

While some fans compared Ehrenreich’s Star Wars character, Han Solo with Hal Jordan, others claimed that it was his similarity with the comic book version that makes him the perfect Hal Jordan casting.

Although Lanterns is still being developed with no news of its casting, James Gunn should definitely listen to the fans seeing the success and reviews superhero movies and series have been receiving lately.

As of now, Lanterns does not have a premiere date.
