Fortnite’s success is often credited to the fact that it is a game that knows its fanbase well. It knows them so well that whenever something new is introduced to this game, fans are pretty quick to accept it without fault. Skins, new maps, weapons, and everything else that changes in Fortnite—fans love it.
But sometimes developers make mistakes. Epic Games, the developer of Fortnite, is no exception here either. They have made a bunch of mistakes over time, too. Usually, they come down to nerfing some weapons and introducing some unexpected bugs to the game. But this time they have done something that fans are not very enthusiastic about.
Fortnite has removed a mechanic, and fans do not love this change
Above all, most fans of Fortnite are always very enthusiastic about getting new skins in this game. Some of them are unlocked through the battle pass, while others can be purchased from the in-game item store.
These skins often come with various items too, such as pickaxes, parachutes, and other such items. But of course, the main focus is always the skin. And those skins also come in various kinds of rarities.
Yes, rarity is one of the prime factors that players make decisions on. If you want to buy a skin from an item shop, you might want to check its rarity. Items usually range from uncommon (green) to legendary. Rare is also an option that is somewhere between these two.
Now there’s something that has caused a lot of panic amongst the fans of this game. This is the fact that Epic Games has decided to remove the rarity from its items altogether. And they have continued selling items in their game’s item store at a supposed overpriced rate.
Fans started noticing when the much-awaited Avatar: The Last Airbender skins made their way to the game. Those skins are impeccable, without a doubt, but there’s no rarity attached to them. And this is without a doubt making a lot of fans very angry.
This was also announced by the official Fortnite blog. They announced it as a usual low-key way to just retire some old systems related to colors and tags. Which is an unusual way of saying that they are doing away with the rarity mechanic.
“The Shop has evolved significantly to support multiple types of cosmetics and items across games, so we’re retiring the old Battle Royale-inspired system of colors and tags for cosmetic quality. Different Series of cosmetics — such as the Icon Series or Gaming Legends Series — will still be there to help you find your favorite stuff!”
It looks like they have also found a way to keep all of their items as expensive as they used to be. But without having to give players the satisfaction of owning a rare or even legendary item.
Without a doubt, fan outrage over this change is pretty huge. No one is loving it, and everyone is talking about it. On the other hand, developer Epic Games has yet to make an announcement regarding it.
Fans are pretty angry over this massive change in the game
Numerous fans of this popular Battle Royale title have decided to let their disappointment known on the internet. They have gone from talking about how it affects everyone to how they would stop buying anything from the shop.
It is NOT a coincidence that they Removed rarities…@PizoTV Called it with the Hael skin that should have been Green rarity 800 VBucks! (It had no backbling)
Fortnite is trying to gouge players more and more! With SCUMMY marketing tactics.

Fortnite is one of the wealthiest games of all time, and I’m sure most of that is associated with the fair prices and amount of content you can get and enjoy as a free player. Skins with less styles becoming more expensive and everything being locked behind bundles and passes…

It remains to be seen how the developer and publisher, Epic Games, react to this criticism. After all, this is their most successful game; they have to respond to these fans.
