Far Cry is now a franchise that has seen twenty years of life. The first game in the series “Far Cry” was launched back in March 2004. Over the years, it has evolved from being a vibrant open-world shooter with stealth elements to games set in expansive open worlds with some light role-playing mechanics at its core.

While this series has largely remained unchanged over the years, it has still gathered a large enough fan following to justify six mainline installments and a bunch of spin-offs too. And almost all of these games have been successful. Now that this series is celebrating 20 years of its inception, Ubisoft and Sony have partnered to give their fans something very special.

Far Cry fans get a bunch of free downloads on PlayStation

A while ago, Sony started a brand-new rewards program for its PlayStation fans. For those unaware of this new program called PlayStation Stars, gamers would be able to earn rewards just by showing off their skills in their favorite games. The program would keep providing them with new campaigns to complete, and they would be able to level up through it.

They would also earn a bunch of points as they level up and then exchange those points for numerous downloadable rewards. The rewards range from unique digital cases to other digital collectible rewards, which can then be seen on the PlayStation mobile app.

Besides completing specific game-related targets, players can also earn points and level up by just making digital purchases on the PlayStation Store. Players can exchange the points earned here for PlayStation Network wallet funds. This is not any different from the points that Nintendo users get upon making a digital purchase. Still, it’s an excellent initiative by Sony to reward gamers for making a purchase on PSN.

And now, to add to everything mentioned above, PlayStation and Ubisoft have partnered to give their fans even more incentives to be on the platform. As a celebration of 20 years of the Far Cry series, they have introduced two new collectibles, Boomer and Chorizo. For those unaware, these two are the dogs that have appeared in Far Cry games over the years.

Boomer appears as a player companion in Far Cry 5, while Chorizo appears in Far Cry 6. And now fans would be able to own 3D models of these dogs for a very small price of nothing. Yes, these models are available to own free of charge; the only thing is that fans would have to play a Far Cry game for a while.

What’s even better is that players can choose their favorite game in the series to play. And they can play it as long as they want to; doing so on March 19 would get them Chorizo, and doing the same on March 24 would get them Boomer.

No doubt, these are some incredible rewards to get for free. And if these are not enough, players can also get their hands on a digital symbiote canister; all they have to do is earn the Exterminator trophy in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

How do I get started with PlayStation Stars, though?

Signing up for PlayStation Stars service is not very hard.

To get these rewards, PlayStation owners would have to be a part of this program, though. To join this program, all one has to do is install the PlayStation app on their smartphone and log in with their account.

Once they are done registering, they can start completing the campaigns, earning points, and leveling up. The rewards would start coming in no time.
