After Warner Bros Discovery scrapped John Cena’s Coyote vs Acme following its completion, they are now un-cancelling it due to severe backlash from fans. Ever since the studio made the disappointing announcement, it has been so chaotic that they had to do a reverse course.
Director Dave Green will now try to sell the movie instead, and some of the potential buyers are Netflix, Paramount, and Amazon. There is also a possible theatrical release so this news is giving fans a lot of hope.
Warner Bros Reversed Coyote vs Acme Cancellation
Coyote vs Acme is not the first already finished project from Warner Bros to get shelved; Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt also suffered the same fate. This practice of canceling movies evoked a lot of criticism from filmmakers and fans, so when the studio scrapped John Cena’s film, several directors told their representatives to cancel their meetings with Warner Bros.
Due to the outrage, Coyote vs Acme will be able to find a new home now as bidding currently takes place. Batgirl’s reputation greatly suffered after its cancellation with Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav previously saying that they have to protect the DC brand and they will remove anything that does not represent them well.
Peter Safran, co-CEO of DC Studios, also remarked that the creative team behind Batgirl was fantastic, but the end product was just not appealing enough for a release. Dave Green’s circle defended Coyote vs Acme and did everything they could to avoid any of these slanders toward the beloved franchise.
Steven Price, composer for Coyote vs Acme, lamented the initial cancellation of the movie and attacked Warner Bros via a tweet. He wrote:
“Had a lot of fun scoring Coyote Vs Acme. As no one will be able to hear it now, due to bizarre anti-art studio financial shenanigans I will never understand…”

Green also reacted to the initial scrapping of the project which he worked on for three years. His friends in the industry revealed that the director did everything right, from the budget to the test scores, and even moved away from his family and friends to save post-production costs.
