Helldivers 2 is growing in popularity with every passing day. PlayStation 5 and PC gamers are enjoying this game to the fullest. But the gamers who chose Xbox as their primary platform have yet to get their hands on Helldivers 2. And it does not even look like they ever will, as Sony is the publisher of this multiplayer game. Everyone knows that Sony would bring their games to PCs but never to Xbox.
This has no doubt made a bunch of Xbox fans unhappy. It has also confused Xbox boss Phil Spencer to an extent. Everyone wants to see this game on Xbox, but it might never happen. Hence, Microsoft is bringing the next best thing to their platform.
Xbox owners forget Helldivers 2, gear up for Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War
When Microsoft bought Activision Blizzard for such a high price, there was a big reason behind that deal. Among all other things, this reason was like a ray of hope for them; it was none other than Call of Duty.
It was pretty obvious they bought Activision so they could own one of the most successful game franchises ever. Now they have it, and now that Sony refuses to release Helldivers 2 for Xbox, a new Call of Duty would fill that space.
This new title is reportedly called Call of Duty: Black Ops: Gulf War, which is being developed by Raven Software. Yes, it is the latest installment in the dark and gritty Black Ops series of games that are usually developed by Treyarch. For those unaware, Call of Duty games are primarily developed by two developers. One is Infinity Ward, while the other is Treyarch.
While Infinity Ward usually works on the Modern Warfare franchise, Treyarch develops the Black Ops series. Once, a studio called Sledgehammer got to try its hands on this franchise. And they too hit the ball out of the park with Advanced Warfare. And now it’s Raven’s turn to prove its worth.
Now that the Gulf War is in the works, there have been a bunch of rumors coming up about this title. The first and somewhat obvious one is that this game would be featured in this year’s Xbox Showcase. But Insider Gaming suggests that it would be revealed sometime before the showcase too.
The biggest news is that Raven Software is taking this franchise in a whole new direction. They are giving this franchise its first open-world title, Gulf War. While Raven would handle the single-player aspect of the game, multiplayer and zombies would still be worked on by Treyarch.
For those unaware Raven Software is a veteran studio that has been developing incredible games for a very long time. They worked on classics like Quake 4, Wolfenstein 2009, and the incredibly well-made Singularity. They have more than proven their prowess in making awesome first-person shooter games.
There is much more coming to Xbox only
While Call of Duty: Black Ops: Gulf War would be a multiplatform game, as per the terms of the deal, there’s much more. For one, Microsoft would be making some announcements regarding the back catalog of Activision Blizzard.
They would also be showcasing a lot of their upcoming games, S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 being one of them. There are also some rumors of Avowed and State of Decay 3 being present during this showcase.
