They are likely bringing zombies to the game too, a mode that was believed to be gone for good. In addition to that, new leaks might add some more excitement among fans.

Details about the game are thin on the ground, but it will likely take place in the Black Ops timeline and reportedly be set during the Gulf War. The first game in the series was developed by Treyarch and released in 2010. Treyarch is rumored to be leading the development this time.

In a series of leaks, a user dubbed, HeyImAlan, shared an image showcasing a large number of game files that appear to be associated with the in-game multiplayer loadouts. Ten images include texts indicating the default MP loadouts.

Many appeared excited about this while some questioned the different loadouts in the game. A user pointed out the fact that melee weapons will have their own slot, similar to Modern Warfare Remastered. Furthermore, custom reticles are likely to return in the new Call of Duty game alongside gestures and sprays. These were available in the previous installment of the Black Ops franchise dubbed Cold War. Apart from this, several weapons and perks were reportedly returning in COD.

As of now, 55 weapons are rumored to be included in the game, but that may not be it, there could be more. Guns from previous COD games including AK-74, AS Val, SVD Dragunov, and more will make it into the game.

Chances are, Call of Duty developers will not take the fans by surprise and will give them what they are expecting. However, the possibility of a different game than the Gulf War must not be ruled out. The last game in the COD franchise, Modern Warfare 3, was a big disappointment despite being a commercial success.

The game introduced open-combat missions, a feature that was heavily criticized by gamers. Nevertheless, its multiplayer component was praised by the critics. Concerning revenue, it topped the sales charts in November 2023.

Activision is struggling to maintain the legacy of the game as of now. Warzone Mobile, a smartphone version of the popular battle royale title was supposed to take over the mobile gaming market. Nonetheless, it has yet to achieve greatness and the developers are now coming up with updates to resolve the barrage of issues players experienced upon launch.
