The relation between Evan Rachel Wood and Brian Warner, aka Marilyn Manson, and the subsequent fall of it has been in the news for years now. After disclosing in 2016 that she had been r*ped by a signifact other, it took the actress five more years before naming Manson as her abuser in 2021.

Soon after, Manson himself came after his ex-partner with a lawsuit of defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress. It also included allegations of violations of the California Comprehensive Computer Data Access and Fraud Act, as well as the impersonation of an FBI agent and falsifying federal documents. The defamation trial is set to begin on May 1, even though a court in California has already dismissed parts of the lawsuit, including the one on impersonation of an FBI agent.

Court Mandates Marylin Manson to Pay Evan Rachel Wood’s Legal Fees

In the long-running defamation suit trial, a judge in the California court has recently mandated Marilyn Manson to pay the legal fees Evan Rachel Wood has accumulated in paying to get legal aid so far. Though Wood had initially sought $388,000 from Manson in lieu of all her legal charges, Judge Teresa A. Beaudet has ordered the plaintiff to pay the 36 year old actress around $60,000.

After the court mandate, Wood’s lawyer stated in a statement

“For years, Plaintiff Brian Warner raped and tortured Defendant Evan Rachel Wood and threatened retaliation if she told anyone about it. Warner has now made good on those threats by filing the present lawsuit.”

The change in payment was made by the judge as they said many of the billing hours stated by Wood were “vague.” Since 2021, Wood and her friend Illma Gore, who is also a defendant in the lawsuit, have been taking legal aid in order to dismiss the claims made against them. Manson said that them portraying him “as a rapist and abuser” has negatively affected his career, which is the basis of his lawsuit against the two women. Unfortunately, this is not his first rodeo.

Marylin Manson Might Not Be As Lucky As His Friend Johnny Depp

Marilyn Manson’s friend Johnny Depp was part of a similar lawsuit last year.  But with how things are currently looking, it does not seem like the result of the lawsuit for Manson would be similar to his friend. In fact, it might go the other way round, given that the court has already mandated for the singer to pay for his ex-partner’s legal fees.

For the unversed, Depp’s ex-wife, Amber Heard, wrote an op-ed for The Washingtin Post in 2018, describing herself as a survivor of s*xual violence. This led to chaos when Depp was dropped from many of his projects, including Pirates as well as Fantastic Beasts. Depp filed a defamation lawsuit against Heard, and the trial went on for a month last year, after which the jury decided in Depp’s favor.

Keeping to the court mandate, Heard paid Depp $1 million dollar, and has successfully settled the lawsuit. Both parties have now left their past behind to work on their future, with Depp focusing on his work – taking on the directorial chair after 27 years for a project titled Modi, starring Riccardo Dario Scamarcio, alongside Al Pacino. Heard, too, has successfully made her way back to the silver screen with movies like Aquaman 2 and In The Fire.
