Hugh Jackman is undeniably one of the most popular actors in Hollywood, gaining widespread recognition for his iconic portrayal of Wolverine in the X-Men movies. While he is set to return with Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool 3, that is not the best team up in the upcoming MCU ethos as Oscar Isaac recently expressed his desire for a better team.
Oscar Isaac’s portrayal of Moon Knight in the MCU stood out as one of the more intriguing shows, delving into new characters. In contrast to the typical comedic approach of recent Marvel projects, the series served as a psychological exploration of a character with a fractured mind. Isaac convincingly portrayed the various personalities within Marc Spector with great conviction.
Oscar Isaac Expresses Desire For Incredible Team Up In The MCU
Oscar Isaac recently appeared at the Middle East Film and Comic Con event in Abu Dhabi, where he discussed the future of Moon Knight. He expressed a desire to delve deeper into the complex dynamic between Steven Grant, Marc Spector, and Jake Lockley within one individual. Additionally, he expressed interest in having the character join the Midnight Suns in the future.
“I thought there was an interesting opportunity with Midnight Suns. There’s such interesting characters in there, and now that we’ve set the groundwork with learning who Marc, Steven, Jake are, it could be an interesting opportunity to see him as part of a team and what that dynamic would be. So I think that would be exciting, I think for me, I definitely hope there’s some room to explore that possibility.”
In case it was not evident already, Oscar Isaac wants his Moon Knight to team up with Mahershala Ali’s Blade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Midnight Sons, a supernatural superhero team in Marvel Comics, includes Ghost Riders Danny Ketch and Johnny Blaze, Blade, and Morbius.
Formed during the Rise of the Midnight Sons story arc in 1992, the team has been revived multiple times with different characters following successful crossover events. A reunion of Blade and Moon Knight would be a major thing for the MCU, so we will have to see if it will happen in the end.
Moon Knight Season 2 Remains Uncertain
In a 2023 interview with ArabicMarvel.com, Moon Knight director Mohamed Diab discussed the prospect of the show receiving a second season and highlighted Marvel’s predetermined episode count of six for series projects. He explained that Marvel follows a strategic plan for their series, deviating from the usual approach of deciding on a second season based on the project’s success.
”Marvel had determined [the number of episodes] from the first day,” he explained. “Marvel’s series projects are all six episodes except for special projects like WandaVision. The usual format is six episodes. Loki is the only series they said will be in two parts from the first day. Marvel’s way is not the usual way where if the project succeeds, I say let’s renew it for a second season. It’s their plan, successful or not, they have a plan.“
Mohamed Diab has discussed the possibility of a second season of Moon Knight, revealing plans for exploring Marc Spector’s alter ego, Jake Lockley. In 2022, the director expressed a keen interest in delving into Jake Lockley’s world, exploring the intriguing aspects of his character, including what happens between his blinks, his identity, his passions, and his relationships.
“I want to see [Jake Lockley’s] world,” he said at the time. “Everyone is so intrigued about him and [I want to] see what happens in between those blinks and who he is and what does he love and who does he love. It’s very interesting for me.”
While the future of Moon Knight is uncertain, Oscar Isaac made it clear he is open to reprising the role if the opportunity arises. We will have to wait and see what will become of Moon Knight in the end.
