Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, Myths & Mortals, is now live, and it’s brought a ton of new content for players to enjoy. With the major theme revolving around Greek mythology, we are going to see many references to mythical weapons and items that the player can use to get an advantage over their opponents.
It’s not all about weapons, either; some items can allow you to make tactical moves to gain a strategic advantage. The Wings of Icarus is one such pick-up that can greatly improve your movement abilities, allowing you to move away from danger and cover large distances easily. If you’re having difficulty finding the wings, we’ve made a comprehensive guide to help you get this item.
Here’s How to Find the Wings of Icarus in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2
The Wings of Icarus is a purple Epic Rarity item, but it is easy enough to find as it can be found in a variety of locations. Some Underworld Chests or Olympus Chests should hold it, and it can also be found as floor loot spawned randomly across the map. You can also take down a player with the Wings to obtain them, purchase them from NPCs, or acquire them after claiming Loot Island.
The Wings of Icarus are also an essential part of clearing a Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 Kickstart Quest. You need to use the Dive Bomb move against an opponent to earn 10,000 XP. That’s not something the real Icarus did, but Greek myths can be tweaked. To do this, let’s understand how to use these shiny new Wings.
Using the Wings of Icarus can Offer Tactical and Offensive Advantages
The Wings of Icarus are not the toughest item to use, but they do need some practice to master, especially when in combat. The first thing to remember is that this is not a passive item; the Wings need to be selected in your hotbar to use them to their full potential in Chapter 5 Season 2.
Once equipped, press your assigned trigger button to be launched into the air. The Wings start with a charge of 300, a number that depletes fairly quickly and doesn’t recharge. You can remain in the air with the Wings for a total of 100 charges at a single time, so you effectively get three full launches.
After the 100 charges of the jump are used up, you will slowly glide to the ground, and there will be a five-second delay before you can use the Wings again. When you max out the 300 charges, you’ll glide down to the ground, and the Wings will vanish from your inventory.
The Wings of Icarus offer you a few movement abilities, such as boosting forward, flying up into the air, barrel rolling to the left or right, and dive bombing. As mentioned before, the Dive Bomb is an area-of-effect attack that is useful for dealing significant damage to a group of enemies.
