Fortnite‘s new skin has fans in splits, as some of them are not pleased, while the rest are just confused. The game’s recent skins in Chapter 5 Season 1 have all made headlines for several different reasons, from Peter Griffin to Solid Snake, and the Raiden skin that was teased in a recent video.
Peter Griffin in particular came off as a muscular world-beater when he looked contrastingly different in the Family Guy series. Even Solid Snake’s looks came under fire for looking nothing like the actual character from the Metal Gear Solid franchise. The latest arrival is a Giant Chicken and Epic Game has not failed to deliver another week’s discussion on the new skin.
Fortnite’s Giant Chicken is What Peter Griffin Should Have Looked Like
Peter Griffin’s long-time nemesis has now joined him in Fortnite as Ernie, and the Giant Chicken is now available as a paid skin. Released three days back, Ernie’s skin costs 1,500 V-Bucks for the skin alone, while a pair of drumsticks costs 800 V-Bucks, and a Peter Griffin Speed Bag Emote costs 500 V-Bucks. A bundle that includes them all costs a discounted price of 2,000 V-Bucks.
While fans of the Family Guy series will love the skin, some are already divided about the sheer appearance of Ernie. Ernie, the Giant Chicken, looks an awful lot like the actual character from the Family Guy TV series, forcing fans to wonder why Peter Griffin was made to look weird, and why a standard skin similar to the original character wasn’t made in the first place.
Peter Griffin looks fat and has a double chin and a belly in Family Guy, while his skin on Fortnite makes him look a lot more muscular and in shape. While Ernie looks like his character from Family Guy, one of the fans started a Reddit discussion, “Why is the chicken fat but Peter isn’t?” The post has received close to 400 comments with several of them wondering the same.
One of the comments mentioned how Peter Griffin looks weird in the game, and a reply to the comment stating the face and the ripped body just don’t go together. Family Guy Creator himself, Seth MacFarlane, had revealed a few days after the skin was added to Fortnite, that Epic Games “didn’t have the budget to create his actual body.”
As for Ernie’s skin, it’s not just the hefty look that fans have shown concerns about, as there’s a vulnerability that comes with it as well.
Ernie’s Skin Is a Lot More Vulnerable Even From Outside Walls
One of the gamers who was using the Ernie skin and played with others in Fortnite who were also using the skin discovered a vulnerability with it. The user named Shany, posted a short clip on X, showing just how easily a player wearing the Ernie skin got killed by them, though they were shooting from outside the walls.
The post received more than 260 responses, most of them stating how it’s often seen that big and bulky skins have a similar disadvantage. The skin itself was called “pay to lose” skin by several fans as mentioned by this user, while most others called it a glitch.
Most of the responses on both X and Reddit were by gamers who mentioned it was rather common with hefty skins, while one other hoped for a standard Peter Griffin skin to be released.
