Gabriel Macht became an icon of suave and sophistication when he was cast in the lead role of Harvey Specter in the legal drama Suits in 2011. The actor reportedly took notes from his relatives who were lawyers but also mentioned that they tried to make it real with the ‘heightened reality of television’.

Gabriel Macht spoke about the show in an interview with TV Guide in 2012 and said how he found the character, who was very far away from his real personality,

“I always knew that [creator] Aaron Korsh had a strong vision. His writing is very witty, and that’s what attracted me to the show. Harvey Specter is like the James Bond of lawyers in how he manages to outwit his adversaries. But he can be a real snake! I see people tweeting, ‘I wanna be Harvey Specter,’ and I’m like, ‘Really?’”

The actor featured along with other great performers such as Meghan Markle, Patrick J Adams, Gina Torres, Sarah Rafferty, and Rick Hoffman.

One of the highlights of Suits is the chemistry that Gabriel Macht’s Harvey Specter shares with every other character. Be it the romantic relationship he shares with Sarah Rafferty’s Donna Paulsen or his nemesis Louis Litt, played by Rick Hoffman, Specter has impeccable chemistry with all of them.

The driving force of the show is Specter’s relationship with his new hire Mike Ross. Played by Patrick J Adams, Ross is a genius with a photographic memory who runs into Harvey while the latter is taking interviews for his firm. Impressed by Ross’ knowledge of the law and his natural instincts as an attorney, Specter decides to hire him despite not having a law degree. This forms the primary conflict in the show.

Macht shares wonderful chemistry with Adams and the two reportedly improvised a lot of the lines that are written by Aaron Korsh. The actors are also good friends off-screen. In fact, Macht revealed that the two were roommates when he first landed in Toronto for the shoot. He said,

“When I moved to Toronto to shoot the first season, I didn’t have an apartment, and I was like, ‘Dude, where are you staying?’…he was like, ‘I’m staying at my mom’s.’ I was like, ‘Your mom’s? Can I stay with you?’ We lived together for, like, 10 days, until I found a place.”

The actor also credited their capability of listening and being as real as possible for their much-lauded chemistry.
