PS Plus adds new free PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games every month and also removes some titles from availability once in a while. The new PlayStation Plus titles for this month have been added today and now some titles in the PS Plus Extra and Premium tier will be leaving the subscription service in December 2023.
Players who have subscribed to the PS Plus Essential tier can get the free games and keep them for as long as they want if they get the games in the window of their availability. But some titles in the PS Plus Extra are often also removed from availability and 11 games will be leaving the Extra and Premium tier next month.
11 Games Are Leaving PS Plus Extra on December 19
According to PlayStation Lifestyle, 11 games will be leaving PS Plus Extra and Premium tier on December 19 and PlayStation Plus subscribers have until nearly a month to claim these games if they want to keep them. The 11 games include some of the best titles available on PS4 and PS5 such as Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, Legends of Ethernal, two Yakuza titles, and others.
Notably the two Yazuka titles, Yakuza 6: The Song of Life and Yakuza: Like a Dragon are leaving PS Plus Extra a month before the next title in the franchise Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will be released on January 26, 2024. These are all the 11 games leaving the service:
- Caladrius Blaze
- Damascus Gear: Operation Tokyo HD Edition
- El Hijo – A Wild West Tale
- Foreclosed
- Friday the 13th
- Legends of Ethernal
- Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
- Middle-Earth: Shadow of War
- The Escapists 2
- Yakuza 6: The Song of Life
- Yakuza: Like a Dragon
It is important to know that once all these titles leave the service, players will need to buy them from the PlayStation Store if they want to continue playing. The Middle Earth titles, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Middle-Earth: Shadow of War from Monolith Productions have been well received by fans and critics alike, but they will unfortunately be leaving the service.
Another title leaving the service, Friday the 13th: The Game had a great following upon launch, but it was already known to exit the service as it is getting delisted on December 31, 2023, and will no longer be available for players to buy either physically or digitally. The servers of the game will be available until December 31, 2024, even after it is delisted so players interested in playing can play it till then.
Other notable titles include Foreclosed and The Escapists 2. Foreclosed is an indie title featuring comic book-like graphics and shooter gameplay which impressed players a lot. The Escapists 2, the strategy RPG title was appreciated for its hilarious and sandbox strategy experience. However, PlayStation Plus is making up for the loss of these titles as new games are available for players to claim.
The players who have subscribed to PS Plus Extra and Premium can claim nine new games including River City Melee Mach!!, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme vs. Maxi Boost On, Nobunaga’s Ambition: Taishi, Dead Island: Riptide, Alternate Jake Hunter: Daedalus The Awakening of Golden Jazz, Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising, and Superliminal.
Premium tier subscribers have also a few exclusive indie titles up for grabs. These are PaRappa the Rapper 2, Up, Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series, Grandia, and Jet Moto. A new destruction game also landed on the PlayStation 5 console on day one with the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscription on November 15.
Along with new titles on the PS Plus Premium tier, new game trials have also been added for a few titles including critically acclaimed Baldur’s Gate 3 and Daedalic Entertainment’s The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. Two two-hour trials have also been added for Terraformers and Ride 5 and a 3-hour trial has been added for Frontier Developments’ F1 Manager 2023.
