Fans were shocked by the news from Jump Festa 2024 regarding Jujutsu Kaisen as Gege Akutami, the mangaka of the series announced that they would probably end the series this year. This was one of the most sad pieces of information for Jujutsu Kaisen fans who have fallen deeply in love with the series.
While the series currently is in its climatic period in the manga, fans are unsure about how much of the Jujutsu Kaisen entertainment is left for them and how the series would end essentially. However, Akutami may have already decided the fate of one character from the series and it is not Yuji Itadori, the protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen.
In an interview that was shared in the Jujutsu Kaisen mini-character book, Akutami was asked what they had decided regarding the conclusion of the series, to which they explained how they had decided the conclusion of every important point and also the ending of Megumi Fushiguro, one of the most important characters of the series.
Warning: Spoilers Ahead
Gege Akutami Has Already Decided on the Ending of Megumi Fushiguro
During an interview which was published in Jujutsu Kaisen mini-character book and was later translated by @kaikaikitan, Akutami explained how they had already decided on the final chapter of the series and also how they had decided on Megumi Fushiguro’s ending. They said:
“I have decided on the final chapter and also the conclusion for every important point, but I’m still undecided about many points in between. I have also decided on Fushiguro’s ending but I haven’t decided on Itadori’s ending yet.”
According to Akutami, they have already thought about the conclusion of every important aspect of the series, however, there are still some things that they have not yet decided upon. Also, they stated that they haven’t decided on Yuji Itadori’s ending yet.
Megumi Fushiguro’s Potential Ending in Jujutsu Kaisen
Currently, Megumi’s role in the Jujutsu Kaisen future chapters in the series is uncertain. He has been possessed by Sukuna who has taken control of his body and is using it to full extent. There is a very good chance that Megumi may already be dead as Sukuna has full control over his body and unlike Yuji, he could not control the possession of his own body.
However, looking at the importance of the character, Megumi may still be alive. Megumi is probably not in good emotional or mental health, even if he is still living. He will have suffered from the weight he has carried and the deaths he has seen. A pivotal moment in the narrative may see Sukuna’s death, and in that event, Megumi may escape with his life.
Although it is uncertain what Megumi’s future holds for the character, the importance of the character bounds him to have an important role at the end of the series, thus it is highly likely that Megumi is still alive.
