Gege Akutami may Never Have Stopped Seeing Yuta as the Main Character of Jujutsu Kaisen

Another Parallel That Proves Gege Akutami Considers Yuta Okkotsu to be a Protagonist.

Gege Akutami may Never Have Stopped Seeing Yuta as the Main Character of Jujutsu Kaisen

SUMMARY

  • Since the start of the show, the plot has demonstrated that even though Yuji has promised, he can not succeed without someone assisting him.
  • With Yuta, though, that is not the case. Yuta has been able to defend himself against some of the greatest foes since Jujutsu Kaisen 0.
  • There is currently another parallel that suggests Akutami may have continued to view Yuta as the protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Everyone knows that Gege Akutami, the creator of Jujutsu Kaisen, hates Gojo Satoru. However, there have been many instances that prove that they love Yuta Okkotsu and, in a way, may have wanted him to be the original protagonist of the series. Despite being a side character (although important), Yuta gives the main character vibe more than Yuji Itadori.

The plotline in the series since the beginning has shown that although Yuji has potential, he is not able to achieve success until and unless someone helps him one way or the other. Be it Sukuna, Aoi Todo, or any other character, Yuji has always needed someone to help him or rescue him.

However, that is not the case with Yuta. Since Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Yuta has been self-sufficient against some of the biggest enemies and managed to break out of some of the worst situations. And now there is another parallel that may have proven that Akutami may never have stopped seeing Yuta as the main character of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Yuta Giving Main Character Energy Since The Beginning

Yuta Okkotsu is one of the most important characters in Jujutsu Kaisen. Not only does he hold great importance to the storyline of the series, but he initially also served as a protagonist in the prequel movie of the series called Jujutsu Kaisen 0. But since then, he has never made an appearance in the original series until recently.

As the Culling game arc began, fans could easily notice that the main character’s limelight has been shifting slowly toward Yuta. He fought some of the most important characters, he planned many moves that the sorcerers took to move to the next step, and most importantly he was the one who sliced Kenjaku’s neck and was one of the two main antagonists of Jujutsu Kaisen.

While Yuji has held his protagonist’s place by fighting the King of the Curses Sukuna, he was not able to make much progress until Yuta joined the fight. This slightly puts the question on the table about whether Gege Akutami still sees Yuta as the main character.

Gege Akutami Still Considers Yuta The Main Character

Recently, it was revealed that Yuji Itadori was a parallel to Mahito. In fact, both Yuji and Mahito accepted it during the Shibuya Incident arc as Yuji was attempting to kill Mahito. If this point is taken into consideration, it places Yuta as a mirror to Sukuna. Thus, it proves that Akutami still considers Yuta as a main character.

There are other instances too that support Yuta being a parallel to Sukuna. In the series, Gojo Satoru explained that Yuta and Rika were connected by the strongest curse, which is love. Also, in one of the recent chapters, when Kashimo and Sukuna are having a conversation, Sukuna states that he knows that love is worthless.

This means that Sukuna has an understanding of love and how strong a curse it is, which is why he considers it worthless for himself. This parallel connects Sukuna with Yuta, and as Sukuna is the main antagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuta, being a parallel of Sukuna, makes him the protagonist of the series in Akutami’s eyes.
