Martin Scorsese Requests The Audience To Respect Cinema
When it comes to some of the most beautiful expressions of cinema in the film industry, chances are plenty that people might subconsciously refer to the films made by Martin Scorsese. For over 55 years making some of the most iconic and critically acclaimed cinematic experiences in the world of films, he’s nothing but a living legend.
But as times changed, so did the meaning of cinema for the rest of the world, and seeing this, the director has a lot of things to say, and only one to request.

In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, the Taxi Driver director talked about his upcoming film Killers of the Flower Moon starring Leonardo DiCaprio. While the film was made in collaboration with Apple and will be joining their streaming platform Apple TV+ in the future, it’s getting a cinema release before that.
When asked was the film was meant for the tiny screen all along, the filmmaker said it wasn’t. He said that the reason the film was getting a cinematic release was because he wanted to preserve cinema’s legacy, and that the audience also should respect it. He said:
“In the case of Killers of the Flower Moon, it should be seen on the big screen.
Are we intending to make a blockbuster? No, we’re making a movie, which should watched on the big screen. Other pictures I made? Maybe not. Sometimes, it’s the strength of the picture too, if it plays well on a smaller screen, that’s interesting. Killers could play on a small screen, but in order to truly immerse yourself, you should take out the time. People say it’s three hours, but come on, you can sit in front of the TV and watch something for five hours. Also, there are many people who watch theatre for 3.5 hours. There are real actors on stage, you can’t get up and walk around. You give it that respect, give cinema some respect.”
Therefore, after calling out Marvel Studios for disrupting the true meaning of cinema, the filmmaker is trying his best to preserve its essence through this cinema release.

What Is Killers Of The Flower Moon About?
Taking a different route from his general mafia and gangster storytelling route, Scorsese seeks to deviate from his usual identity with the upcoming Killers of the Flower Moon. Adapted from the book of the same name written by journalist David Grann, the story tells the tale of one of the biggest murder cases in American history and the birth of the FBI.
The story tells the tale of the influential Osage Native American Tribe, the members of which are mysteriously murdered after crude oil is found on their land. This leads to the creation and involvement of the FBI to find the culprit behind the heinous crime.
