Elden Ring and God of War: Ragnarok are two vastly popular action video games that are great in their own way. One is a role-playing game with a massive open world to explore and hard-as-nails enemies to fight. The other is an action-adventure fantasy title with a very cinematic story. One tells its story through its environments and item descriptions, while the other employs the old-school way of letting the characters sing their song.
Both of these games have their own share of incredible bosses for gamers to face. Where God of War: Ragnarok has the likes of Odin, Heimdall, and Thor, Elden Ring has Morgott, Astrel, Radagon, Radahn, and, of course, Malenia. One must wonder: What happens if these bosses fight each other? Who would win? Well, someone seems to have found the answer to that.
Thor from God of War vs. Malenia from Elden Ring, who would win?
Malenia Blade of Miquella is a very resilient character, withstanding years of hurt and scarlet rot. She lives and awaits the return of her brother. There has never been a moment when she left hopes of seeing him again. She even has half a mind to go and look for him herself, but her battle with Radahn has left her battered.
And so she sits near the roots of Haligtree, waiting for her dear brother to return. But as is always the case, the player character arrives, and they don’t care how much one hurts. They just want their prize, and so they fight Malenia, and very soon players realize their mistake as she kills them, swooping from one corner of the arena to the other.
Most Elden Ring players died at the hands of Malenia on their first go. She is the ultimate warrior; let us not forget that she was the one who fought Radahn so fiercely that all he could do was bring this fight to a standstill. And then too, failing to accept her defeat, Malenia unleashed the scarlet rot just to defeat him; that’s how much she likes winning.
Thor is also a fierce warrior; equipped with his hammer, Mjolnir, he prances around drunk, fighting random nobodies. He has resentment for his father, and he has a hatred for God of War’s protagonist, Kratos, for he killed Thor’s sons. But his fight with Kratos is mostly a cinematic event.
Some button machines, learning patterns, no serious damage, and he is done. It is said that Thor once hit Jörmungandr with his hammer so hard that he went back in time. Even before he was born. That is also portrayed in the game during the Ragnarok War. But that power is never seen during the boss’s battle against him.
And so, who wins when both of them fight each other? The video by Garden of Eyes suggests they are matched somewhat evenly. It’s a glorious showcase of pink butterflies and blue lighting. But the moment Malenia unleashes scarlet rot, Thor’s health goes down pretty rapidly.

Can Kratos defeat Malenia, though?
While Thor somehow gives Malenia a tough fight, she would easily tear through him. This is not based on the video, but on the power he showcases during the game itself. He hardly poses any challenge to Kratos.
But Kratos, on the other hand, can be a big hurdle for Malenia. The guy has defeated enemies much larger and harder than her. From Gaya to Poseidon, he had his share of challenging mammoth adversaries. So if there’s someone who can believably defeat Malenia, it’s Kratos.
