The film was not given a theatrical release in the country due to the sensitive subject matter that showed the country’s darkest period. Now, according to a new report, Oppenheimer is ready to have a big release in Japan next year after multiple careful considerations.

Christopher Nolan had arguably his most creatively fulfilling year as a director as his film Oppenheimer received immense love from critics and audiences alike. The director’s genius has made its cast and crew the front-runners for various prestigious awards in the coming period. The film, however, did not receive a theatrical release in Japan due to the backlash it received in the way it was promoted and the sensitive subject matter.
Now, according to a report by Deadline, the film is ready for a wide theatrical release in Japan next year “following months of thoughtful dialogue associated with the subject matter” by Bitters End. Christopher Nolan Has a Superstitious Fixation with The Month of July
Christopher Nolan’s films are highly anticipated among audiences. The director tends to release his films during the summer. As one observes, a number of his most famous works, including Dunkirk, Inception, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, and Oppenheimer all released in July. Cillian Murphy claims that Nolan has a certain fixation with that month.
In a recent segment of Variety’s Actors on Actors where he appeared alongside Margot Robbie, Murphy revealed that Nolan has a knack for choosing that month and is superstitious about it. He said,
“Christopher Nolan was always determined that it would be released in the summer as a big tentpole movie. That was always his plan. And he has this kind of superstition around that date, in and around the 21st of July. So they always come out then”
Murphy and Robbie also talked about the Barbenhimer phenomenon and how it proved to be a big factor in the success of their respective films. They both got deep behind the making of the films and the segment proved to be entertaining as well as informative.
