Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire Tracking to Earn Less Than The Flash Did at the Box Office

SUMMARY

  • 'Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire' has MonsterVerse fans extremely hyped as its release date nears, with it finally continuing the story of 'Godzilla vs. Kong'.
  • Unfortunately, there were productions made that believe the film's domestic opening weekend range to be between $41 million, and $50 million.

The MonsterVerse has established itself as a true phenomenon in fiction and fantasy. The franchise has become extremely well-known and has had a massive impact on popular culture, ever since the release of Godzilla in 2014. The second part of Godzilla vs Kong, and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is just the most recent addition and has fans extremely hyped for its release.

Unfortunately, a recent prediction about the film’s performance has worried more than a few. It would seem that the Adam Wingard-directed movie could have been quite a disappointing box-office opening. So much so, that its numbers could be lower than Ezra Miller’s The Flash.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire Gets Unfortunate Predictions

Despite the MonterVerse having some dedicated fans, a recent prediction about the upcoming Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire does not paint it positively. Recently, Long Range Box Office made a prediction about the film’s success and how it will perform in its opening weekend and the numbers are concerningly low. They put forth a range of $41-$50 million in domestic revenue for the first three days of its release.

These predictions are further reinforced by the numbers of the previous film, Godzilla vs. Kong, the first part of the film, earned significantly less than the upcoming film. Within the first five days of its release, the film has only earned $48.5 million domestically. It is safe to say that the predispositions made about the film are not good, however, this might not be the end of its embarrassment.

The Flash Performed Better

Ezra Miller’s The Flash has gone down in history as one of the most disappointing films of all time. Having been hyped up for years, and having a lot of hype surrounding it, it completely embarrassed itself during its time at the box office. It had very poor CGI, unnecessary cameos, and poor story progression. On top of this, despite all its efforts, it could not catch the fans’ attention.

Even though the film set multiple records for being the worst-performing superhero film of all time, it would seem that it managed to make more than the predictions made of Godzilla x Kong: The New EmpireAccording to Box Office Mojo, the film earned over $55 million in its domestic opening weekend, which is five million above the MonsterVerse film’s highest ballpark.
