Jujutsu Kaisen manga is slowly approaching its end, with the mangaka having confirmed that they will try to wrap it up by the end of 2024. However, the window feels to be too little to reveal all the mysteries surrounding Gege Akutami’s magnum opus. One of the biggest mysteries of Jujutsu Kaisen is Ryomen Sukuna. Except for being the King of Curses, there seems to be no information available about him.
But the fans may have found the source of his massive Cursed Energy with the latest fan theory. Unlike Satoru Gojo, Sukuna never revealed his origin or the source of his power, but the latest fan theory claims him to be the embodiment of anti-love. This factor, according to the fan theory, has helped him gain such godly powers.
Ryomen Sukuna’s Massive Cursed Energy May Be Related To Love
There have been several hints given by the King of Curses about his power source being related to love. Jujutsu Kaisen characters like Maki Zen’in and Toji Fushiguro have shown that by sacrificing their Cursed Energy, they gained superhuman strength, which is known as Heavenly Restriction. On the other hand, by experiencing love, Jujutsu sorcerers can increase their Cursed Energy. Yuji Itadori and Yuta Okkotsu’s powers are based on love and a need to protect their loved ones.

The fan theory claims the King of Curses had experienced love but chose to sacrifice everything to gain the ultimate power. Moreover, having something he loved or desired would eventually become a weakness for him. So, he took the toughest path to sacrifice them all, and that is why he is known as the ‘fallen one.’ Even during his fight with Yorozu, the latter wanted to make the King of Curses fall in love with her.
But he was not willing, and somewhere between the fight, Yorozu realized that Sukuna may have already experienced love. Another instance is when Sukuna compared his innate domain to being ‘inside of the heart.’ His Domain Expansion looks like a mouth, which could potentially signify him devouring everything. Sukuna experienced love and decided to sacrifice it, so that may be a reason why he hates Yuji, who cares for everyone.
Love Seems To Be The Driving Force In Jujutsu Kaisen
In Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Satoru Gojo said, “Love is the most twisted curse of all.” It looks like the ‘Honored One’ knew what he was saying. Even though Ryomen Sukuna does not believe in the concept of love, the fan theory points to him being related to it. Sukuna advised Jogo to burn everything he desired to reach the heights of Satoru Gojo. Satoru Gojo’s comment was maybe a warning to his fellow students about the King of Curses.
It felt as if he was saying it from his experience. Jujutsu Kaisen is based on Cursed Energy, but love is the driving force. Yuta’s love cursed Rika and made her the Queen of Curses; Nanami loved Yuji, so he did not want to curse him before dying, and Toji handed his child over to his killer to protect him. Everything done was based on love.
Since the concept of Jujutsu is based on love, the fan theory feels natural, and knowing Sukuna he might have devoured everything he desired to leave weakness. The fan theory has a solid ground and points out several instances to justify the claim. But still, it is a fan theory, and nothing can be said for sure until the official confirmation. Without Jujutsu Kaisen ending soon, Gege Akutami might reveal everything pretty soon.
