After waiting nearly a decade that may or may not have felt like a lifetime, we finally have the first look at GTA 6, the much-anticipated title in the acclaimed Grand Theft Auto series. Rockstar has finally released the trailer for the game after years of leaks and rumors, delighting the fans.
Although it was earlier than the scheduled release thanks to another leak, however, fans are hyped are hyped and below is everything that we know about GTA 6 as of now.
Everything That’s Been Confirmed So Far About GTA 6
GTA 6 is the next major title in the popular GTA series and will probably be the biggest game that will be released this decade. Rockstar Games first announced via X/Twitter that it will release the trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto in early December on the 25th anniversary of Rockstar Games. This announcement from Sam Houser himself got the fans hyped as it was the first official news from the studio after it confirmed the development of the game back in September 2022.
Fans were excited to finally hear about the game after so long and that they will get to see the game in December only made everyone restless. Later Rockstar Games announced the release date and time for the trailer on X/Twitter on December 1. The studio revealed that “Trailer 1” for GTA 6 will be released on December 5 at 9 AM ET.
Fans were delighted to know when they would finally have the first official look at the game and started speculating about what the game could have in store. The trailer date and time tweet even became the most liked gaming tweet of all time and currently sits at 2 million likes. The GTA 6 trailer was all set to be unveiled to the fans on December 5, however, a leak decided to ruin the party and Rockstar decided to release the trailer early.
The trailer dropped 15 hours ahead of the planned release and sent the fans into a frenzy. The trailer confirmed a lot of things that had been rumored and speculated. The trailer confirmed that GTA 6 will have dual protagonists, with the trailer opening with a shot of a prison featuring Lucia, one of the protagonists in the game.
The other protagonist is Jason, who is shown later in the trailer but is still left unnamed for some reason. The protagonists were said to be inspired by infamous robbers Bonnie and Clyde and this is confirmed at the end of the trailer with the duo kicking down the door of a store and barging in with guns. The story of GTA 6 will follow the protagonists who are a couple and their adventures as they look to hit it big.
GTA 6 will be set in Vice City, Leonida which is Rockstar’s version of Miami, Florida, and based on what we have seen in the trailer, the map is pretty huge, possibly the largest in the series. In case anyone has doubts about the location, Rockstar handled that with VICE lit by the sun as well as some shots of Vice City’s beaches, bars, strip clubs, nightclubs, and more.
The trailer confirmed that there will be several vehicles returning from GTA 5 returning the game such as yachts, Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and more. The trailer also showcased social media and live streaming which will be a part of the gameplay.
Some locations of the Vice City are also confirmed including Kelly County, VCI Airport, Stockyard Downtown, Vice Beaches, and Port Vice City. There are also alligators, in fact, a lot of them even in the pools, gangs such as a dirt bike gang, a mud club bang called the Thrillbilly Mud Club, and a street racing gang called High Rollerz Lifestyle. Weazel News is also coming back in GTA 6.
There are also working containers ships and drones. It has been confirmed that GTA 6 will be released sometime in 2025 and will not be coming for PC. The game will only launch for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, skipping last-gen consoles.
