Rockstar Games has finally announced GTA 6 in an official post on its website and on almost all social media platforms. This was after it announced that the game was indeed in development in 2022.
After confirming the game’s development, the studio kept radio silence. The only brief glimpse we got at the game was when the leaks by UK-based hacker Arion Kurtaj took place. The leaks confirmed a lot of reports, which were initially just mere speculations. This included the availability of a female protagonist for the first time in the franchise.
GTA 6 was formally announced ten years after the last game’s release. This means that Rockstar has been working on the title for quite some time. The series sets new benchmarks for the genre and video game industry.
This has been happening since the series’ inception. Some games attempted to match the studio’s flair and excellence in creating top-of-the-line open-world experiences. This led to the creation of an entirely new subgenre known as GTA Clones.
GTA 6 is expected to live up to the hype that has been building for a decade. It is expected to keep the same tone and charm as previous titles in the series. And if that weren’t enough, it is also expected to innovate by introducing new, unique, intricate mechanics. The last expectation has been met, and Rockstar has hit it out of the park with every game.
Here is everything that can be expected from GTA 6, the latest title in the series, which is the holy grail of video game design and development.
New Driving and Vehicle Mechanics in GTA 6
GTA 6 will potentially have better vehicle physics present in the game. Vehicle physics makes a massive difference in a game with a sprawling open world. The physics system was almost entirely different when we saw the transition from GTA 4 to GTA 5. The system in GTA 4 was much more realistic.
In the leaks in September 2022, the videos had footage of a supposed bank heist occurring at the diner. In the footage, the vehicle’s physics seemed identical at first glance. However, when observed at turns and intersections, the vehicles seemed to be turning towards the side. This was also followed by the suspension system being more active.
This may hint that a more intricate and realistic physics system similar to the one from GTA 4 might be making a comeback. From the leaks, we also saw that there may be an aim and fire while driving mechanic in the game.
We can also expect more in-depth vehicle customization in the game and better and more in-depth interiors.
Shooting, Stealth, and Other Combat Mechanics We Can Expect in GTA 6
A large part of GTA games in the past has been combat, whether sneaking around or performing heists. Or escaping an ambush when a deal goes bad. GTA games have had some of the most fun shooting and combat mechanics in the open-world game genre.
The weapon wheel will probably return in GTA 6 and be inspired by recent games like Red Dead Redemption 2. As seen in the leaks, the weapon wheel will also be more realistic and limited when compared to GTA 5.
We will also probably have more weapons, realistic weapon animations, and sound effects. There may be improvements in the aiming system, like the ability to switch shoulders while moving in cover. We can also expect better ragdoll physics and melee animations.
Take-Two Interactive recently registered a patent for better animations, which will likely be implemented in the game. There has been no confirmed action on all these mechanics since the footage revealed in the leaks showed the game in development.
This means that there may be further changes in these mechanics. But one thing is sure: Rockstar has taken more than double the time between GTA 5 and GTA 6 compared to the time between GTA 4 and 5. They know the expectations fans will have from the game will also be higher. It will be interesting to see how and if the game manages to meet and breach them.
