The GTA 6 trailer has left the fans in awe at how well Rockstar has portrayed the state of Leonida which is inspired by Florida but that’s not all as the trailer also pays homage to some of the best classic films ever with the game’s protagonists.

GTA 6 Packs References to a Bunch of Classic Films

Grand Theft Auto 6 will feature two protagonists, Lucia and Jason, and the trailer focuses heavily on the duo, especially Lucia. The trailer shows the protagonists in a light that is similar to the characters and most likely inspirations from some classic movies such as Pulp Fiction, The Place Beyond the Pines, and several others.

Lucia and Jason strongly resemble characters Pumpkin and Honey Bunny from Pulp Fiction who rob a diner and the last scene in the trailer makes it hard to argue with that as Lucia and Jason are seen entering what is most probably a diner or a store and they definitely would not barge in like that with gun and bandanas on the face to pay and get stuff. Although it can not be said for certain if that is the case, it is quite intriguing.

One more movie characters that the protagonists are reminiscent of are Mickey and Mallory Knox from Natural Born Killers which is inspired by real-life events that occurred in the 1950s.

In the movie, Mickey and Mallory go on a killing spree, and the incidents become glorified by the media. Considering how social media is shown in the trailer, it could play a big role in the gameplay and also affect the protagonists as well as the storyline.

Lucia and Jason also have practically identical resemblances to Buddy and Darling from Baby Driver. Buddy and Darling are a gangster couple in the movie who are seen robbing a bank and the scene in the GTA 6 trailer with Jason driving with Lucia sitting in the back with cash in her hands could be a reference to the movie. Buddy’s real name in the movie is Jason Van Horn which could be the inspiration behind the name of the male protagonist.

The protagonists in GTA 6 also have a striking resemblance to the married couple, Luke and Romina from The Place Beyond the Pines, played by Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes. Lucia and Jason have a strong resemblance in physical appearance to the characters as well as the intimate bond that has been in the movie between characters.

Luke enters the crime world to support Romina and Romina is also a Latina like Lucia. The couple has a son named Jason in the movie and according to reports that have surfaced in the past, Lucia and Jason also have a child that will appear in story cutscenes. Therefore, GTA 6 could have references from the movie.

Lucia and Jason also remind one of the couple, Clarence and Alabama from True Romance. Clarence, a comic book nerd, and Alabama, a prostitute fall in love and accidentally get in trouble with a drug-dealing gang. The chase scenes and the bonding are all reminiscent of the couple from the movie.

Lucia and Jason are also similar to Buddy and Darling from Baby Driver.

The protagonists have also been compared to the infamous notorious criminal couple, Bonnie and Clyde and the trailer gives the same vibe that it will have a similar central narrative. GTA 5 also had references to a bunch of movies and TV shows such as No Country For Old Men and Breaking Bad. When players go to the western base of Mount Chiliad in GTA 5 they find cars full of bullet holes and bloodied bodies lying on the ground, which is a reference to the movie.

The Al Pacino movie Scarface also served as a major inspiration for GTA: Vice City as Apartment 3C is based upon the iconic chainsaw scene in the movie and Tommy Vercetti’s mansion and his suit are also influenced by Tony Montana.
