GTA 6 was confirmed to be released on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Unfortunately for PC users, there’s no news yet; there’s no doubt that it’ll eventually come to the platform, like the other games, but expect delays of a year or more.
As users discuss the possibilities of the game appearing on PC, one thing is clear; what the co-CEO of PlayStation said about growing the playerbase through exclusives might not have been so off-base after all.
Are People Going to Wait for GTA 6 on PC?
![PC will have to wait a while for GTA 6; can you afford to wait?](https://fwmedia.fandomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/01070735/gta-6-1024x575.png)
When it was announced that Rockstar’s highly anticipated sequel in the GTA series was only going to be on the PS5 and Series X/S consoles for now, many gamers were disappointed, but not surprised.
To refresh your memory, it also took a while for GTA 5 to come to the PC.
It came out in 2013 for the PS3 and Xbox 360, the PS4 and Xbox One in 2014, and finally Windows in 2015—a whole two years later. What’s there to say it won’t take the same time for it to come out on PC this time around? According to these poll results, many people aren’t keen on waiting for this long.
Going by the poll results, it’s not a stretch to say that PC players would purchase a console just to get their hands on the game. The hype surrounding it is immeasurable, and we’ve already seen this pattern with GTA 5.
Out of the 32,000 people who voted, 46.4% admitted they would buy a console just to play the game. This is a small sample size, and we can imagine the actual number including the entire gaming community would be higher.
The Constant Battle Between FOMO and Patience
![Opinions are all over the place when it comes to waiting for the PC port.](https://fwmedia.fandomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/01070745/GTA-6-Trailer-guns-blazing-1024x576.webp)
At the end of 2023, we reported that the PS5 outsold Series X/S consoles by a staggering difference. If that many people are inclined to buy the Sony console over its Microsoft counterpart, could the same thing happen when around GTA 6‘s release?
It’s hard to say for sure, but we can surely expect PS5 consoles to rise when the game is eventually out. Maybe there was truth to what Herman Hulst said.
By waiting for the PC version, you have the advantage of more graphics settings, mods, and other similar customization tools. For a lot of people, the wait is worth it just for that.
You also have those gamers who waited years upon years for ports like God of War and Ghost of Tsushima instead of buying a console to experience them. Don’t forget those people waiting for a Bloodborne PC port; their patience is something to be feared.
GTA 6 is a single example out of many games where people will take drastic measures to avoid FOMO.
