GTA 6‘s trailer was released on December 5, and the world cannot stop talking about it for good reason. The game looks promising if one goes by the trailer footage, which is about a minute and a half long. The game has several new additions, including the series’ first-ever female protagonist, Lucia, seemingly the gaming community’s latest crush.

The game’s staggering level of detail can be seen in aerial shots, which show off the level of detail regarding vegetation, lighting, wildlife, vehicles, character models, etc. GTA 6 is set in Vice City and is modeled after modern-day Miami, Florida. Notably, viewers’ footage of the game gets many of the elements right about Florida. However, another thing that the game successfully attempts to replicate about the state of Florida is its culture, specifically its NSFW culture.

GTA 6 Is Very Much a Title Specifically for Grown-Ups; the Trailer Makes It Abundantly Clear

The GTA franchise has never been one to be enjoyed by people of all ages, perhaps one that is fit to fire up when your family is gathered on Thanksgiving or Christmas. It is a title meant to be played by mature audiences and has mature themes such as violence, intercourse, and crime.

People were naturally hyped for the next chapter in the genre-defining franchise when the trailer was released. As the trailer begins, we glimpse Lucia, the game’s first female protagonist. When Lucia’s presence in the game was confirmed, people were perhaps that sexually suggestive themes and female objectification would take a backseat. This, however, was not the case, and unfortunately, the one-and-a-half-minute game reveal goes a little below the belt after that.

After a couple of landscape shots portraying the scenic beauty of Florida’s Everglades. We then come to Miami’s South Beach, where we see a seashore landscape. We see a scene filled with bikinis and beach outfits as men and women get a tan. Some people are seen enjoying a run with their pet Chihuahua. This is still not uncalled for since it is a beach, and beach attire is only appropriate. But things get a little out of hand as one pans their view towards the extreme right end.

We see a woman leaning forward in a fashion that people could consider inappropriate. Even if one were to let that slide, we see a man recording footage of the woman’s posterior as she leans forward, the woman being visibly aware of the same. It doesn’t take two minutes for someone to understand that all this is, in fact, deliberate, as picturized in the game’s reveal.

Unfortunately, the NSFW extravaganza does not end there for GTA 6. Sometime later, we see footage from an in-game strip club where things are the way they are at a usual strip club. While going into details isn’t necessary, glancing at the background reveals a banner titled “Make it Rain Mondays.” Yes, it is precisely what it sounds like. After that, we see a woman who people think is Lucia, but it isn’t confirmed that she is posing in a bikini.

Once again, nothing is inherently wrong about that, but as mentioned earlier, people are gushing over Rockstar’s first-ever female protagonist in GTA 6. Many thirsty posts of people are visibly “simping” over Lucia. At the same time, it is indubitably a fantastic step towards inclusion to feature a female protagonist in a game that has been called out for the objectification of women. Portraying the series’ first-ever female protagonist scantily clad arguably defeats the purpose. After this, it is no surprise that people are more excited to play as Lucia in the game for the wrong reasons and are noticing just her looks in the trailer.

Out of the many social media footage snippets one can find in GTA 6‘s trailer, one of them is glorifying “sugar daddies”; another sees a woman twerking on top of a car. We see people indulging in lewd gestures, daredevil maneuvers, and a man watering his garden wearing skimpy undergarments.

The trailer finally ends with Lucia and an individual who is likely the second protagonist, Jason, indulging in lovemaking after indulging in heists. The trailer doesn’t leave a lot to the imagination when it comes to its age rating. Like other GTA titles, it seems like GTA 6 will stir up some controversy. The game has a tentative release window of 2025 and will come to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at launch.
