Rockstar Games’ much-awaited trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 dropped on YouTube less than two weeks ago and has managed to break all kinds of records within the span of a few days. One of the prominent achievements is the fact that GTA 6’s trailer is currently the most-watched trailer in YouTube history, with almost 150 million views at the time of writing.

Within just 24 hours of its release, the trailer garnered 93 million views, making it the most-watched non-music video on YouTube. The insanity doesn’t end here; The Guinness World Record also acknowledged the trailer to have broken another record. The trailer is the most liked video game trailer on YouTube.

The GTA 6 Trailer Surpasses Others to Thrive as the Most-Watched Trailer on YouTube

The trailer has already broken three Guinness World Records.

While GTA 6 is currently the most viewed trailer in YouTube history, there are few who came quite close. Closing in at second place is the trailer for Dil Bechara, a Bollywood movie starring Sushant Singh Rajput, who sadly passed away in 2020, making it his last role in a film.

It’s also worth mentioning that earlier in 2023, the teaser trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home remained the most-watched trailer within 24 hours of arrival (estimated at around 355.5 million views).

Keeping aside Hollywood and Bollywood, it’s clear that the video game industry has its own world record breaker, and GTA 6 is likely going to shift the tides of how many times a game trailer is still going to be viewed, analyzed, and talked about.

At the time of writing, the trailer has more than 10 million likes, with 306k dislikes. Undoubtedly, the marketing (or lack thereof) for GTA 6 does everything by itself, without Rockstar needing to tell us anything about it. The anticipation for the trailer directly transforms into all these views.

After all, fans have waited over a decade to hear about anything officially from Rockstar. We’re not sure when we’ll see the next trailer or a gameplay deep-dive, but at the moment it seems that the hype around the first trailer is strong enough to keep us going for the next many months.

The trailer also stands as the primary attraction on all Rockstar Games channels, including their official website. The overall theme and UI have been designed to complement the vibe of GTA 6 and the first trailer’s details are shown off through captivating cover art.

GTA 6’s Trailer Showcased Just Enough Details to Keep Everyone Very Busy

The game’s first trailer explores its characters, setting, and open-world activities.

At this point, it’s safe to consider that Rockstar has found a way to keep fans extremely busy with any announcement they make regarding a new game. Within hours of arrival, GTA 6’s trailer was dissected and analyzed by the community over, and over again.

This can also be considered the reason why the video has so many views. The trailer is short and sweet and gives the right number of details to go over. Almost every GTA YouTube channel has broken-down the trailer, analyzing it frame-by-frame.

While much of the trailer showed off Rockstar’s in-game engine footage and how gorgeous the game will look; there were two key highlights. The first one has to do with our protagonists, Lucia and Jason.

We’re not sure if he’s really called Jason, but that’s what we know from all the speculations and leaks. However, the first trailer emphasized Lucia as Rockstar Games’ first playable female character in the 3D era of GTA

Secondly, the trailer gave us an in-depth look at the game’s setting. Set in the State of Leonida, the games seem to focus on the many landscapes inspired by real-life Florida. Furthermore, in-game footage suggests that NPC density, interactions, flora, and fauna will be strikingly realistic. Consider this as an upgrade from what we experienced in Red Dead Redemption 2.
