After fighting a series of highly skilled and high-profile celebrity opponents, it seems like the time has come for Paul to face off against one of the sport’s greatest. Netflix recently announced that Jake Paul would feature in a boxing match against none other than the legendary Mike Tyson.
Irrespective of Tyson’s reputation these days, he could still prove to be a formidable opponent for Paul. As a result, when the news of their boxing match reached social media, fans quickly started a debate and discussed the pros and cons of a Paul vs Tyson bout. Here is what fans are saying about the impending clash between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.

Previously, Paul and Tyson fought at the same event in 2020. Dubbed “Lockdown Knockdown,” the event saw Tyson and Paul co-eventing with bouts against Roy Jones Jr. and Nate Robinson respectively. However, their impending bout in July of this year will be the first time Paul and Tyson face each other in the ring.
Paul currently has a professional boxing record of 9 wins and a solitary loss from 10 fights with the loss coming against Tommy Fury in February last year. On the other hand, Tyson’s last professional fight came in 2005, which resulted in a loss to Kevin McBride. Tyson retired with 50 wins in his professional career and his 2020 exhibition fight against Jones Jr. was his most recent bout.

I rate Jake and I get why he wants to do this but seeing Iron Mike most likely knocked out at the age of 57 is extremely sad. It’s not a fair fight if this is serious..

So Jake Paul is fighting a 57 year old man who hasn’t had a fight in nearly 20 years.
Gotcha.

According to fans, Paul fighting Tyson, who is way past his prime isn’t a fair fight, and lamented the match-up. Most fans called out Paul for not facing boxers in their prime. However, some X users also refused to count out Tyson and threw their support behind the veteran boxer. It would seem that hardcore Tyson fans believe that the 57-year-old boxer could still outclass Paul and hoped to see the latter get knocked out during the bout.
Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson will be streaming live on Netflix, on July 20, 2024.
