Dakota Johnson’s Madame Web is being criticized by critics and fans alike

Madame Web deals with the origin story of a Marvel character of the same name who has clairvoyant powers and can see into the future. In the movie, Dakota Johnson portrayed the role of Cassie Webb aka Madame Webb, and was trying to save the 3 spider-woman characters from the villain of the movie, Ezekiel Sims.

Madame Web has been receiving a lot of negative comments from critics and fans alike for poor dialogue and scriptwriting of the movie.

Madame Web hurt the sentiments of fans

For instance, in one of the interactions between Cassie Webb and a young Uncle Ben who used to work together as paramedics, Webb goes on to say a line that hurts the sentiments of Spider-Verse fans all around the world. On their very first interaction on the screen, she said,

Madame Web has already been a massive disappointment to the fans of the franchise and fans considered this dialogue a reference to the death of the character who really ends up getting ‘shot in Queens‘.

Madame Web also ruined Uncle Ben’s iconic dialogue, “With great power comes great responsibility” from Spider-Man. Throughout the years, different iterations of this dialogue have been spoken in many Spider-Verse movies but Dakota Johnson’s iteration of this dialogue was allegedly so bad that fans just could it anymore. In Madame Web, Johnson said,

Madame Web was supposed to be the first movie of a standalone universe but considering how it has performed commercially and critically, it seems like Sony might not be interested in developing further movies.
