Hades, which debuted in early access in 2018 and saw its full release in 2020, was met with immense enthusiasm from fans. Following its substantial success, Supergiant Games has begun development on Hades 2, recently releasing an early access version.
The sequel had a successful launch, much like the original game. However, this time, the situation appears to be different than expected, as the latest data indicates that the new game surpasses its predecessor in many things.
Hades 2 Early Access Surpasses 100,000 Concurrent Players in First 24 Hours
Supergiant Games finally launched Hades 2 in early access on May 6. As expected, players eagerly embraced the game from the outset, and the roguelike action role-playing title achieved significant success on its first day.
According to SteamDB data, Hades 2‘s early access reached 103,567 concurrent players on Steam on its first day. That’s nearly three times the original Hades‘ all-time high player count, raising the studio’s hopes for a full release of the game.
In addition to the game’s concurrent player count, Steam reviews are also highly positive. As of the writing of this article, 96% of the 13,320 user reviews for the title are positive, and it is labeled an “Overwhelmingly Positive” tag on the platform.

Although fans are currently enjoying Hades 2‘s early access, there is also great expectation for the full version. On Steam, Supergiant has said the following:
We expect Hades 2 to be in Early Access development at least through the end of 2024. Given the nature of Early Access development, we don’t have a specific end date planned at this time.
Although Supergiant Games does not give a clear date for this at the moment, we know that they will be in early access until the end of 2024. This could mean that the full version may be released in early 2025.
The Ways in Which Full Version Differ from the Early Access Version
Early access versions refer to games that are not yet fully finished. This is necessary for developers to evaluate various issues, including feedback from fans, and to deliver polished work. This includes the early access version of Hades 2.
We expect the full version of Hades 2 to include a more complete, more polished set of features and content in comparison to the Early Access version, along with Steam Achievements and the true ending to the story.
The studio plans to launch updates that bring new features and content, along with fixing any bothersome issues with the patches it will release during this period.
According to the game’s Steam page, Supergiant Games plans to release the first major update that will bring new features and content later this year. Sadly, we do not currently have any concrete information about the game’s update roadmap.
