Blade Runner is a venture that affected Sean Young both positively and negatively. While it stands as a major project in the actress’ career, her relationship with the associates wasn’t good enough. Reportedly both Ford and Young couldn’t stand each other on the set. Interestingly, the duo also portrayed the roles of lovers Rick Deckard and Rachael. This led the other cast and crew to call their love scene “the hate scene”.

While the reason for the feud isn’t fully known, it is rumored that the actress’ approach to the movie was different from Harrison Ford’s which created indifferences between them. On top of that, Sean Young’s relationship with the Blade Runner director Ridley Scott was also unpleasant that gave rise to many headlines.

Even though the rumors claim the on-screen lovers Harrison Ford and Sean Young weren’t on good terms, the latter’s words proved that she hated nobody more than Ridley Scott in Blade Runner. It was alleged by the Dune (1984) actress that Scott put her in harsh situations after she rejected the Gladiator director’s proposal.

As reported by Variety, Ridley Scott wanted to date Young which she rejected as a result of which she was forced to shoot certain scenes which had no relevance to the plot of the movie.

“Well, honestly, Ridley [Scott] wanted me to date him. He tried very hard in the beginning of the show to date him, and I never would. I was like, nah. And then we do this scene, and I think it was Ridley. I think Ridley was like, ‘f–k you.’ I was thinking, ‘Why did this have to be like that? What was the point of that?’ and I think it was Ridley’s none-too-subtle message that he was getting even with me.”

Further during the same interview, Sean Young also added how she was approached for a “30 second hologram cameo” in the sequel Blade Runner 2049. Although the sequel was directed by Denis Villeneuve, Scott was attached as an Executive Director. The 63-year-old argued that the audience certainly wanted to watch more of her but the makers made her sign an NDA so that she can’t reveal the information in public.

Reportedly, a new addition to the franchise in the form of a Blade Runner 2099 series is currently in development.
