Fans desperate to get their first look at the upcoming GTA 6 are no doubt counting down the days until Rockstar releases their long-awaited trailer next month. With all the rumours and speculation surrounding the latest instalment in the franchise, fans have their work cut out for them wading through all the information that is currently circulating.
However, it would appear that the latest news posted on a subreddit forum may be a dampener to those Grand Theft Auto fans who are currently in high spirits. After waiting close to a decade for a glimpse of the follow-up to the highly successful GTA V, fans may be set to wait just that little bit longer now.
Could there already be a delay to GTA 6?
According to the Gaming Leaks and Rumours subreddit, if people were to read between the lines on the latest Take-Two Interactive conference call, it would appear that GTA 6 has been delayed somewhat compared to what was originally intended as a launch date for the upcoming title.
It had been mentioned that Take-Two was forecasting a substantially good year in 2025 and going by further information provided by u/wonderingandthinking on Reddit, it appears that this would coincide with the recent conference call. From this, the company mentioned the increase in earnings being pushed to a new fiscal year (fiscal 25).
Take-Two Interactive has confirmed that the game is well underway in terms of development and that fans can expect the game between April 2024 and March 2025. So, with the news on forecasted earnings, we can read between the lines and surmise that this means that it is more than likely that we will see GTA 6 in 2025, rather than next year (2024).
However, some fans have gone further, suggesting that the delay in the release of GTA 6 could see it being pushed back as far as 2026. It is doubtful that this would sit well with fans, having to wait nearly 3 years after the trailer coming next month but as stated, this is little more than speculation.
Fans who are desperate for the latest instalment in the crime adventure game will understandably be disappointed if the game is to be delayed and comments on the Gaming Leaks and Rumours subreddit certainly emphasized this.
“This needs to stop 10+ years between games. GTA, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, the next RDR. Developers need to start loaning out IPs. I’m not asking for every year, but more than 4/5 years between games is way too long.” – u/Significant-Friend33
“This better be one of the best games of all time to take this long to come out or even have news about. After rockstars experiences with how they handle their multiplayer components, I just can’t with all of these delays” – u/MelloJesus
At the time of writing, there is no confirmed date for the release of the GTA 6 trailer other than it will debut in December. This has led to many fans speculating that the trailer will drop alongside The Game Awards, which are set to take place on 7 December (8 December for the UK and Europe). However, it is entirely plausible that Rockstar will release this independent of the Game Awards.
Given that Take-Two Interactive has confirmed that GTA 6 is due between April 2024 and March 2025, it may be rumours that this potential delay may see the game pushed back more toward a launch in 2025. However. going by the comments of some fans, they are more than happy to wait longer if it means a more complete and well-rounded Grand Theft Auto game.
