Mark Wahlberg reveals feeling irritated by Tom Holland

Ted star Mark Wahlberg wanted to make a movie on the topic, many years ago with director David O. Russell. He wished to play the lead character of adventurer Nathan Drake, however, the film never happened.

Wahlberg shared in the interview,

“I was attached to this movie for quite some time, so long that I was playing the Tom Holland role originally. And now I’m playing Sully, but I love the fact that I’m playing Sully. He’s such a fun character, a very kind of untrustworthy guy who, when chipped away this tough exterior, actually has a heart of gold.”

The actor finally got his dream come true moment at 50, when he was cast in Uncharted. However, in the film, he was given the role of gruff, elder statesman role of Victor Sullivan. The main protagonist role of Nate went to 25-year-old Super-man star Tom Holland. Wahlberg was cool with the casting decision.

The Transformers star shared with PEOPLE,

“Having this guy constantly nipping at my heels and annoying me makes for good banter. I’ve never had a little brother before, so it was nice. I think the movie’s that much better because of the chemistry between the two of us.”

The two-time Oscar nominee shared that the Spider-Man star is sweet and very focused. He added,

 “He’s found a nice balance of doing these giant tentpoles and then also doing things that are really challenging and showcase his talent and his abilities.”

Uncharted is an action-adventure film directed by Ruben Fleischer and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

“I noticed that from the first time we first met until we were actually going to make the movie (Holland) put on weight and spent a lot of time in the gym. He’s gotta prove to me and to the world that he can do it at that level for some 30 years.”

Wahlberg offered to train with Holland, but it didn’t pan out,

“I think because he thought it was going be this kind of weird competition. I wasn’t trying to compete with him the way he was with me.”

The film was released in February 2022 and was a massive hit with gross earnings of $401.7 million worldwide.
