Matt Fraction’s Hawkeye run is a 22 issue masterpiece that began its comic book supremacy in 2012. Though rarely viewed as one of Marvel‘s more interesting characters, Fraction’s Hawkeye run is widely considered to be one of Marvel’s greatest comic books of all time. The comic manages to give us an intimate look at Clint’s life outside the Avengers while simultaneously allowing us to fall in love with almost Avenger Kate Bishop. Our first look trailer at Clint Barton’s upcoming series recently dropped and the series is set to debut November 24th on Disney+. The trailer showed us the series will be taking many thematic elements from Fraction’s comic run, so naturally, it felt like time to dive into what we may be able to expect from the upcoming Disney+ series.

1. The Tracksuit Mafia

The Tracksuit Mafia (or Tracksuit Dracula as Clint likes to call them), look to be a big thorn in the side of both Clint and Kate in the upcoming series. In February, Lizzie Hill now of The Cosmic Circus reported for Murphy’s Multiverse that Polish actor Piotr Adamczyk could potentially be a member of the Tracksuit Mafia in the Hawkeye series. Stills from the trailer of a van with “Trust a Bro” on the side would seemingly confirm the Tracksuit Mafia will be involved in the series. Bro these guys are definitely a nuisance for Kate and Clint in the comics, Bro.

2. Lucky the Pizza Dog

Another character that the trailer introduced to us was Lucky the pizza dog. Formerly named Arrow, Lucky was a dog owned by the leader of the Tracksuit Mafia. After saving Clint from being shot by the Bros in Tracksuits, Lucky takes a few tough blows including a lost eye. Clint takes on Lucky as his companion, introducing him to his favourite food, pizza.

3. Christmas in New York

One of the things that excited fans most from the trailer was the confirmation that Hawkeye will occur at Christmas time. There is nowhere that does Christmas quite like New York, and that is exactly what we will see when the series drops at the end of November. This is taken straight from Fraction’s comic run, however, in this instance, I don’t think we will see Tony Stark helping Clint Barton untangling his VCR cords.

4. Kingpin

Vincent D’Onofrio’s portrayal of Wilson Fisk is as gripping as it is terrifying. It has been heavily rumoured for a while now that the Kingpin’s first official MCU appearance could be in Hawkeye. The stars could align perfectly for this to happen, as it would be a comic accurate appearance. The Kingpin is of course New York’s premier crime boss, and his role in the comic would apply perfectly to the series. Although following the comics wouldn’t make him a main player in Hawkeye, seeing him turn up in any capacity would make fans of the Netflix series Daredevil ecstatic.

5. Clint and Kate Addressing Their Pasts

Before I dive into this, I want to say that Hailee Steinfeld is an absolutely perfect casting as Kate Bishop. I can’t wait to see her take on the classic banter between Kate and Clint. The comic run sees them team up with Clint’s brother Barney, their neighbours and Lucky. It also pits them up against foes from Clint’s past like Swordsman, the man who trained Clint, as well as Madame Masque, the daughter of Marvel villain Count Nefaria. Kate’s parents also both play a role, as she finds out their unnerving connections to the criminal underworld. It’s unknown how these characters could play into the series, however, it’s possible some of their roles could be changed and combined in classic Marvel fashion with exciting MCU up-and-comer Yelena Belova.
