The HBO Max Green Lantern show is one of the most highly anticipated comic book based TV series. These are the Green Lanterns confirmed to appear in Greg Berlanti’s upcoming project.

Alan Scott

Alan Scott is the first Green Lantern of the DC Universe. His Power Ring has a more magical connection. It was not made by the Green Lantern Corps. After DC Retconned the Golden Age Superhero’s story, Scott became the GL of Earth 2 and was now openly gay. He is also a very important member of the Justice Society of America.

Sinestro

Sinestro was the first character to be confirmed to make an appearance in the show. Before he founded the Yellow Lantern Corps, Sinestro was a high ranking member of the Green Lantern Corps. He was an early mentor to Hal Jordan. After losing faith in the Green Energy of Willpower, Sinestro wielded the Yellow power of Fear. Over the years, Sinestro has increased the number of Sinestro Corps members in the DC Universe. The HBO Max Green Lantern Show will be the character’s second live-action appearance. He was first played by Mark Strong in the 2012 Green Lantern movie.

Simon Baz

Simon Baz is of Lebanese descent. His Middle Easter heritage led him and his family being constantly targeted by Islamophobes after 9/11. Baz kept persevering and the Power Ring chose him as the new Green Lantern of Earth. The HBO Max Green Lantern show must explore Baz’s dynamic with Jessica Cruz.

Jessica Cruz

Jessica Cruz only recently became a Green Lantern. But she amassed a massive fan following in a short span of time. That is probably because Cruz suffers from PTSD and anxiety issues. She is a symbol of mental health. Her origin story is also a bit different. Jessica Cruz was chosen by the Power Ring of the Green Lantern of Earth 3, also known as the Ring of Volthoom. The Ring could possess its host and make him/her do its bidding. Cruz eventually managed to take control and use the Ring of Volthoom as a force for good. She was then accepted into the GL Corps and given a proper Power Ring.

Kilowog

Kilowog serves as a mentor figure in the Green Lantern Corps. He has trained many recruits and rookies that were chosen by the Green Lantern Power Rings. Every rookie training under him is referred to him as “Poozer”. Kilowog has made an appearance as a Green Lantern in the Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern movie in 2012. He will probably be the only character who will be brought to screen via the help of extensive CGI. The HBO Max Green Lantern show will be a good opportunity to explore Kilowog’s past rather than cast him aside as another side character. In his home planet, Kilowog was a brilliant genetic scientist.

Guy Gardner

Guy Gardner is the Jock of the Green Lantern Corps. Arrogant and a total blabbermouth, Gardner’s origin story makes him more than just a jarhead. He was abused by his father when he was a child. Despite his troubled upbringing, Gardner found a new purpose in life when he was chosen to become the Green Lantern of Earth. The HBO Max Green Lantern show will run for 10 episodes, giving ample opportunity for DC to distance the character from the jock stereotype he is infamously associated with.
