Jennifer Garner, in a 2021 interview with The Skimm, shared the reason Mark Ruffalo wanted to leave the project,

“We started to learn the dance. Our first rehearsal, I think it was Mark and Judy Greer and me. And Judy and I were both dancers growing up. Poor Mark didn’t know that. He came in, and he hated the rehearsal process so much, he almost dropped out of the movie.”

His reservations against dancing made him want to quit the rom-com that received a lot of acclaim from the critics. But despite his reluctance, he took some of the lessons and performed excellently in the movie.

Mark Ruffalo asks actors to switch to indie projects amid strikes

Hollywood is currently witnessing the strikes by WGA and SAG-AFTRA. Many major celebrities have come forward in support of the strikes. Mark Ruffalo has joined to support the actors who are currently on strike, demanding fair pay and job security. He urged the actors to switch to indie movies; the actor himself has previously shared he prefers indie movies over major franchises.

He posted on Twitter,

He also stated further, “They’ve created an empire of billionaires & believe that we are no longer of value. While they hang out in the billionaire boy summer camps laughing like fat cats, we organize a new world for workers.”

Many other celebrities who work on indie projects have chimed in with Ruffalo’s thoughts. While other celebrities have donated huge amounts to the strikes and have also been vocal about their support.
