Marvel has big hopes for Avengers: Secret Wars and Avengers: Kang Dynasty. A two-part chronicle to conclude the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, the movies are said to have changed the trajectory of the entire cinematic universe. While MCU’s latest projects seem to have been underperforming, these two movies hold the potential to make or break MCU’s box office domination.
With the studio’s hegemony in threat, it is but natural that Marvel would want to recreate their Infinity War and Endgame magic. Hence for the sake of fulfilling fans’ expectations and reviving their box office gains, the studio has reportedly been eying Sam Raimi to direct both movies and fans have been welcoming of the decision.
Marvel Reportedly Wants Sam Raimi To Direct Avengers 5 And 6
It was earlier reported that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director, Destin Daniel Cretton would be directing Avengers: Kang Dynasty. However, the talented director has reportedly left the movie to focus on other projects. While some allege it is because of the recent failure of The Marvels, it has nonetheless left the post vacant.
As per a rumor floating around, it is reported that Marvel wants Sam Raimi to direct both movies. The director previously made the hit Spider-Man trilogy, ushering in a new era for superhero movies, and recently directed Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Despite the latter being a mess for numerous reasons and being criticized on various fronts, Raimi is the top contender for Avengers 5 and 6.
If he does decide to direct the movies, it would be one of his biggest ventures to date with multiple characters and potentially diversified storylines since the two movies are said to be the conclusion of Marvel’s Multiverse Saga.
Although the cast hasn’t been confirmed as of yet, it was reported that the strikes gave Marvel plenty of time to reflect on their ongoing projects and study the apparent ‘superhero fatigue’, whose effects would certainly be seen in future movies. And if Raimi comes aboard, it would be worth noticing how such changes along with Raimi’s character-driven direction fare for the studio.

Marvel Fans Excited To Have Sam Raimi Direct Avengers 5 And 6
Amidst the rumor of Marvel reportedly wanting Sam Raimi to direct the two crucial Avengers movies, fans have been pretty welcoming of the possibility. Many took to social media to share their delight of a possible Marvel-Raimi collaboration, while expressing that their interest in MCU would greatly increase if such a feat were to happen.

If the rumours are true that we might see Tobey back, then this would be ideal. I would love to see Raimi direct anything Spider-Man related again, let alone the Avengers. If this is true, then my interest in the MCU is back 👍

Even though it is just a rumor, it would be great to have Raimi on a Marvel Studios project.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is expected to be released by May 1, 2026, while Avengers: Secret Wars will be released by May 7, 2027.
